A leading company is looking for an Accounting Executive in Kuala Lumpur to maintain the general ledger, handle tax compliance, and process payroll. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and at least three years of progressive experience. Key tasks include preparing financial statements and managing cash flow, while effective communication and mastery of accounting software, particularly SQL, are crucial. This office-based role requires a Mandarin speaker and offers a dynamic work environment with potential for growth.
Maintain general ledger accounts, including preparing and posting journal entries, and reconciling balance sheet accounts on a regular basis (daily, weekly, monthly as required).
Process accounts payable (vendor invoices, payments) and accounts receivable (customer invoices, receipts, collections).
Manage bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring.
Ensure proper coding of all financial transactions to the correct accounts and cost centers.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement) in accordance with relevant accounting standards
Assist in the preparation of management reports, budget vs. actual variance analysis, and other ad-hoc financial analyses to support business operations.
Contribute to the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
Compliance & Taxation:
Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations (e.g., income tax, sales tax/GST/SST, withholding tax) and assist in the preparation and timely filing of tax returns.
Adhere to internal controls and financial policies to safeguard company assets.
Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Process Improvement & Systems:
Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Utilize accounting software (SQL Software) proficiently and maintain data integrity.
Payroll Processing:
Process monthly payroll for all employees, including salaried, hourly, and commission-based staff.
Input and verify employee data, including new hires, terminations, transfers, and changes in pay rates, deductions, and withholdings.
Calculate and process wages, bonuses, commissions, overtime, and other forms of compensation.
Process special payroll runs as needed (e.g., year-end bonuses, off-cycle payments).
Liaise with various departments to gather financial information and resolve discrepancies.
Communicate effectively with external stakeholders such as auditors, tax authorities, and bankers when required.
Provide support and guidance to junior accounting staff if applicable.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of three-years progressive experience in an accounting role
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Soft Skills:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
High level of integrity, discretion, and ethical conduct.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
Primarily an office-based role.
Mandarin speaker only
Working Hours: 09:00am-05:50pm (Mon-Fri)
May require extended hours during peak periods (e.g., month-end, year-end closing, audit periods).
