Job Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development: Design and update comprehensive Interior Design / Interior Architecture courses that reflect the latest industry trends and academic standards.
- Teaching Excellence: Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and lab sessions across a variety of Interior Design / Interior Architecture subjects, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and software.
- Student Assessment: Create and evaluate examinations, assignments, and projects to gauge student knowledge and skills, providing constructive feedback.
- Research Contribution: Conduct and publish impactful research in the Interior Design / Interior Architecture field and supervise student research projects and theses.
- Professional Development: Remain current with technological advancements and pedagogical strategies through continued education and active participation in academic communities.
- Community and Industry Engagement: Collaborate with industry experts to ensure curriculum relevance and foster opportunities for student placements.
- Mentorship: Offer academic advice and personal mentorship to students, guiding them towards academic and professional success.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor\'s degree in Interior Design / Interior Architecture / Architecture
- Registered Interior Design with LAM (IDr.)
- 10 years minimum of working experience in Interior Design industries
Minimum Competencies
- Applicants can be from the category of compulsory retirees based on IIUM compulsory retirement age from IIUM, other higher learning institutions; or distinguished figures from the industries, civil service or professionals.
- Malaysian and International applicants are welcome to apply.
- A blend of academic qualifications, teaching abilities, research skills, and personal attributes.
- Prior experience in teaching and research in the higher education sector is an added advantage.
Other Requirements
- A strong foundation and knowledge in Interior Design / Interior Architecture.
- Proficiency or specialization in any of the following areas:
- Interior Design Professional Practice
- Building materials and finishes
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- A strong track record of published research and participation in the academic community is highly desirable.
Language Qualifications
- For Malaysian citizens: Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.
- IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4. Candidates without any of these qualifications will be required to take the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
