Position Summary (Sr Tax & Government Compliance Accountant)

Interviewer: Finance Manager / Sr. Manager / Director of Finance

Requirement: 5 years of progressive accounting/compliance experience primarily within a global manufacturing environment. Desirable previous financial accounting/compliance experience in a high-tech or global company.

This position is responsible for control and compliance, liaising with authorities and regulatory bodies. The accountant will report to the Finance Manager in Malaysia.

Responsibilities

  1. Liaise with government agencies, bankers, auditors, company secretaries, tax agents, and commissions of oaths for business requests and reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements such as bank guarantees, CCM forms, CTC (certified true copy), GST/SST reporting, directors & bank confirmations, etc.
  2. Assist in audits, including statutory, tax, and MIDA audits.
  3. Prepare annual financial statements for EY.
  4. Monitor and ensure tax filing compliance (Form C/CP204/CP204A).
  5. Handle withholding tax filings and employee personal tax clearance for expatriates.
  6. Manage transfer pricing, deferred tax, and tax provision-related matters.
  7. Support MIDA requirements, including condition tracking, online surveys, meetings, and follow-ups with MIDA authorities.
  8. Maintain document control and retention, ensuring all finance documentation adheres to policies and regulations, including proper archiving.
  9. Administer P-Card program.
  10. Assist in process improvements.
  11. Perform any ad-hoc duties as required.
  12. Adhere to organizational policies on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal requirements, environmental policies, 5S, and general duty of care.

Prior Experience

  • Experience with an integrated ERP system, SAP preferred.
