Position Summary

WAN Security Engineers should be certified at the expert level in multiple network and security disciplines (e.g., CCNP/CCIE & CISSP). They support enterprise-class network security technologies, including firewalls, web proxies, VPNs, and access control solutions. Responsibilities include design, troubleshooting, optimization, administration, change management, and documentation. Core technologies include Cisco Firepower, Cisco FMC, Menlo Cloud-Based Internet Isolation, Forescout Enterprise Manager, and Cisco ISE. Program: OMDAC-SWACA.

Responsibilities

• Support enterprise network security requests, manage access controls, troubleshoot web browsing issues, and support DMZ-hosted services.
• Provide security policy recommendations, project planning, change control, and manage firewalls and ACLs.
• Enforce security policies and investigate malicious activity.
• Ensure compliance with DISA STIGs and perform system maintenance for vulnerabilities and compliance.
• Maintain proxy web filtering policies, analyze logs, and identify irregularities.
• Support AAA & auditing with Cisco ISE, monitor network device health, and maintain network diagrams.
• Track issues using ServiceNow and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active Secret Security Clearance.
• Education/Certifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS, MIS, IS, Engineering, or related fields. Must adhere to DoD 8570.01M with at least one baseline and one CE certification from approved lists.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years working with network and firewall technologies, VPNs, and enterprise network equipment. Strong troubleshooting skills with TCP/IP protocols.
• Skills: Configuring systems per STIGs, managing documentation, assessing networking needs, making decisions under pressure, and multitasking. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Experience in customer service environments.
