Position Summary

The individual will be responsible for and possess experience in the installation, testing, and repair of the IGX tactical communication package (TCP). Responsibilities include the operation and maintenance (O&M) of communications lines, trunking, cabling, and switching systems associated with the IGX. The technician shall maintain systems, modules, cabinets, processors, circuit cards, power supplies, and peripheral equipment, including cabling, wiring, plugs, and adapters. Preventative, corrective, routine, and demand maintenance procedures for the REDCOM IGX Switch will be performed. The technician will also provide telephone services to all customers serviced by the switch.

Additional Details

This position offers company-paid housing and transportation, a completion bonus, and a tuition reimbursement program. Candidates must meet all host country requirements to work legally in the host country.

Responsibilities

1. Perform all service orders (SEVORD) on the switch.
2. Administer, operate, and maintain telephone systems according to the OEM manual.
3. Perform patch programming changes, and update telephone prefixes and area codes.
4. Troubleshoot the switch and ancillary devices to restore service, including mechanical, programming, and parts replacement tasks.
5. Conduct remote diagnostics, replace parts and materials, provide emergency technical assistance, and update technical documentation.
6. Coordinate with local exchange carriers for trouble correction, service addition, or upgrades.
7. Coordinate with the RNOSC for DOD network compliance and telecommunication service orders.
8. Participate in performance assessments, evaluations, training, and contingency operation preparations, including responding to inspection reports.
9. Maintain logs, cable records, and a telephone database.
10. Verify customer service and complete reports and records.
11. Work environment will be approximately 90% office and 10% with Outside Plant personnel.
12. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance required.
• Education/Certifications: High school diploma or GED required; one year of related experience may substitute for one year of education.
• Experience: At least five years' experience as a Telephone Switch Technician, with completed certified training on the REDCOM IGX Switch system.
