Job summary

TalentScript is recruiting a Lead Full-Stack Engineer for a Kuwait-based technology startup seeking its first in-house technical hire. Take ownership of the platform, understand how everything works, and lead its future evolution across mobile apps, web interfaces, backend systems, and connected devices.

This hands-on role requires deep full-stack expertise (PHP/JavaScript) and the ability to work with an external agency while guiding internal development as the company transitions to in-house

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in full-stack development, particularly PHP and JavaScript.
• Proven experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving live production applications.
• Ability to independently understand unfamiliar codebases, trace technical issues, and implement reliable solutions.
• Solid understanding of backend architecture, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, and deployment processes.
• Experience taking technical ownership of projects or systems, ideally involving external development teams.
• Comfortable working independently and making technical decisions without an established internal engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Take Over the Existing Platform: Work with the external development agency to review the source code, understand the architecture, and manage the technical handover.
• Own Full-Stack Development: Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve mobile applications, frontend interfaces, backend systems, and APIs.
• Manage Technical Operations: Oversee cloud infrastructure, databases, deployments, application performance, and system reliability.
• Handle System Integrations: Understand and manage communication between applications, backend services, third-party integrations, and connected devices.
• Drive Technical Improvements: Identify weaknesses, resolve technical challenges, and decide what needs fixing, improving, or rebuilding.
• Shape Future Development: Work directly with the founders to translate business needs into technical solutions and guide the platform’s future direction.

About the Opportunity

TalentScript is recruiting a Lead Full-Stack Engineer for a Kuwait-based technology startup seeking its first in-house technical hire.

The company operates an established platform comprising mobile applications, web interfaces, backend systems, and connected devices, currently developed and maintained by an external software development agency.

Take ownership of this platform, understand how everything works, gradually transition development and technical operations in-house, and lead its future evolution.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced engineer who can take responsibility for an entire technology platform, not just individual development tasks.

What You’ll Do

• Integrations: RESTful APIs and TCP-based device communication

Essential Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in full-stack development, particularly PHP and JavaScript.
• Proven experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving live production applications.
• Ability to independently understand unfamiliar codebases, trace technical issues, and implement reliable solutions.
• Solid understanding of backend architecture, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, and deployment processes.
• Experience taking technical ownership of projects or systems, ideally involving external development teams.
• Comfortable working independently and making technical decisions without an established internal engineering team.

Nice to Have

• Experience with React, ThinkPHP, UniApp, or similar frameworks.
• Experience managing mobile application builds and releases.
• Familiarity with IoT systems, connected devices, or hardware-to-cloud communication.
• Previous experience as a Senior Full-Stack Developer, Technical Lead, or Founding Engineer.

You don't need to have worked with every technology listed. What matters most is your ability to understand an existing system, work confidently across its components, and take responsibility for keeping it running and improving it.
