Social Worker (Counseling Services)

American International University (AIU) is looking for a dynamic and engaged full-time Social Worker (Counseling Services). We seek an individual who is passionate about offering support to young adults through mental health assessment and behavioral health services.

Responsibilities of Social Worker for counseling services

• Provide mental health and behavioral health assessments for the students to determine their well-being.


• Lead and manage the Behavioral Intervention Team committee.


• Development, implementation, and evaluation of services designed to encourage realistic self-appraisal, an appreciation of cultural differences, and student independence.


• Provide low-level mental health and behavioral health intervention support strategies to students.


• On-campus promotion of mental health and overall well-being.


• Identify at-risk students and, where necessary, provide resources for students to seek further support.


• Establish relationships with off-campus providers, where necessary.


• Follow crisis-management procedures when necessary.


• Planning and scheduling a calendar to meet regularly with students as necessary.


• Serving as a counselor for students working with difficult courses or life challenges that may interrupt degree completion.


• Facilitate written documentation upon request.


• Effectively communicate institutional standards.

Qualifications for Social Worker for counseling services

• Master’s degree in any of the following fields:
  -Psychology
  -Mental Health Counseling
  -Social Work


• Must be highly organized and capable of handling multiple caseloads.


• Strong English communication skills are an added advantage.


• The ability to work with a diverse group of students of different ages and ethnicity.


• Proven ability to work independently.
