Position Description
The Field Service Representative (FSR) will interface with clients at levels from the BCT and below, typically Combat Arms Battalions (CABs), representing the Abrams team in multiple functional areas. The role may involve coordination with AFSB units in Kuwait and inspection of COSIS-based tanks in APS fleets.
The SME will engage with the customer on maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnostics of Abrams vehicles, including the hull, turret, and armament systems. The FSR will serve as the primary contact for the customer at multiple locations in Kuwait, advising Army Leaders on technical and maintenance issues, generating reports, and identifying cost savings. The role requires representing General Dynamics Land Systems in a strategic environment to support combat power.
Position Requirements
- Must be a Certified Abrams FSR with 6-9 years of maintenance and troubleshooting experience on Abrams M1 to M1A2 SEP tanks, including DSESTS and logistical experience.
- Must possess a valid US Passport.
- Must have FSR Certification from Abrams Center of Excellence.
- High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate degree is preferred.
- Must be a US person and able to gain access to U.S. or foreign military bases.
- Must pass a deployment physical meeting OCONUS requirements and secure a NACI.
- Willing to travel globally for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of GDLS processes, products, military technology, and ability to coordinate with mechanics and supervision.
- Ability to work independently and in team environments, both on and off military installations.
- Valid State Driver's License; ability to obtain military license and meet anthropometric requirements.
- Occasional confined space work within vehicles, exposure to temperature extremes.
- Physical requirements: pass and maintain deployment standards, meet ASR guidelines, dexterity, ability to carry 70 lbs, and climb on/off vehicles.
- Understanding of US Military rank structure and organization.
- Proven performance in Field Service support of M1 Abrams series, capable of autonomous operation and operational decision-making.
- Strong customer support record, ability to work directly for USG personnel.
Additional Information / Desired Experience
- Eligibility for US security clearance; non-US citizens may not qualify.
- Experience with ground combat vehicles preferred.
- Ability to work around military vehicles, pass ASR tests, and occasionally work evenings/weekends.
- Familiarity with military standards and test requirements; occasional travel to test sites.
