Job description

Overview

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Asia Supply Chain, the Senior Procurement Engineer will support the Procurement department in identifying, developing, and upgrading the supplier base to support the business needs of the organization. This position shall lead the efforts in developing Asia supply chain focusing within China, manage procurement activities with contract manufacturing partners, and support both NPI and sustaining activities in purchasing and supply management.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for developing Asia supply chain to support both NPI and sustaining activities.
    • Lead negotiation, alternate sourcing, and localization activities in China to improve local content.
    • Optimize material cost by driving productivity and continuous improvement activities, including duty/tariff mitigation.
    • Lead procurement activities for product transfer – source & quote analysis.
    • Ensure material availability to support production, including training and qualification.
    • Ensure suppliers deliver quality products at optimal cost.
    • Monitor supplier performance (cost, quality, and delivery).
    • Execution of category strategy at site level. This includes developing and executing supply base strategies to improve supplier performance and ensuring appropriate levels of capacity to support business-unit demand.
  • Collaborate with different functions (Global Procurement, Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Distribution) in managing procurement issues: materials expediting, supply issue mitigation including support end of life and alternate sourcing proposals, ECO / PCN / TMD process, quality investigation, and engineering evaluations.
  • Provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) input to product designs relating to manufacturability, cost reduction, and ease of manufacture, by liaising closely with the Waters Design Group and suppliers.
  • Perform cost analysis, periodic repricing review, and track the site PPV / SCR performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or Engineering (mechanical, electrical, or electro-mechanical).
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in a procurement and manufacturing-based environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and connect with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Proficient in MS Office; MRP experience will be highly considered.
  • Ability to travel as required.
