Job summary

Saba Intellectual Property in Kuwait seeks a junior IP lawyer to support the firm's IP portfolio. You will provide legal advice on infringement and counterfeit matters, and coordinate with external lawyers to advance enforcement actions.

You will prepare reports for clients, translate documents when needed, conduct IP research, and help review licensing and other IP agreements. A Bachelor of Laws and 0-2 years' experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws required.
• 0-2 years of experience in the legal field, preferably IP.
• Experience with IP enforcement and corporate clients is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provides legal advice and recommends action on infringement/counterfeit matters.
• Manages, coordinates and monitors legal enforcement cases on IP matters.
• Prepares day-to-day correspondences and reports to clients.
• Translates documents when needed.
• Conducts IP research pertaining to origin and background of registered owners.
• Liaises with external lawyers and company branches for feedback on infringement cases.
• Reviews IP-related agreements such as licensing and copyright agreements.
• Prepares annual audit reports for clients pertaining to legal matters.
• Drafts and reviews warning letters and follows up.
• Files complaints with government authorities (Municipality, Ministry of Commerce, Customs).
• Conducts market visits to identify infringements.

Provides support in handling legal matters related to the intellectual property rights of the company's clients.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Provides legal advice and recommends a course of action on how to tackle infringement/ counterfeit matters
• Manages, coordinates and monitors legal enforcement cases on various IP matters
• Prepares day-to-day correspondences and reports to clients
• Translates documents when needed
• Conducts trademark, patent, copyright research pertaining to the origin and background of their registered owner
• Conducts domain name research and searches for counterfeit items promoted online
• Liaises with external lawyers and company branches to obtain their feedback on infringement cases and maintain the appropriate follow-up
• Reviews IP related agreements such as licensing, franchise, master development, copyright agreements, etc.
• Prepares annual audit reports for clients pertaining to legal matters handled by the company
• Drafts and reviews warning letters before being sent to counterparts, and supervises their follow-up
• Prepares and files complaints before the government authorities (Municipality, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Customs etc.)
• Conducts regular market visits and inspections to identify potential infringements or counterfeiting activities and reports any potential matters.
