Job summary

Saba & Co. Intellectual Property is seeking a junior IP attorney in Kuwait to support infringement investigations, prepare notices, and liaise with clients and authorities.

You will conduct IP research, assist in drafting agreements, and coordinate with external lawyers while gaining exposure to trademark, patent, and copyright matters within a Kuwait-based practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws required.
• 0-2 years of experience in the legal field, preferably in IP.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and guidance on infringement/counterfeit matters.
• Manage and coordinate enforcement cases across IP matters.
• Prepare day-to-day client correspondences and reports.
• Translate documents when needed.
• Conduct trademark, patent, and copyright research on origins of owners.
• Perform domain name research for online counterfeits.
• Liaise with external lawyers and branches for feedback and follow-up.
• Review IP-related agreements such as licensing and copyright agreements.
• Prepare annual audit reports for clients on legal matters.
• Draft and review warning letters and supervise follow-up.
• Prepare and file complaints with government authorities.
• Conduct market visits to identify infringements and report.

Job description

Duties/Responsibilities

Provides legal advice and recommends a course of action on how to tackle infringement/ counterfeit matters

Manages, coordinates and monitors legal enforcement cases on various IP matters

Prepares day-to-day correspondences and reports to clients

Translates documents when needed

Conducts trademark, patent, copyright research pertaining to the origin and background of their registered owner

Conducts domain name research and searches for counterfeit items promoted online

Liaises with external lawyers and company branches to obtain their feedback on infringement cases and maintain the appropriate follow-up

Reviews IP related agreements such as licensing, franchise, master development, copyright agreements, etc.

Prepares annual audit reports for clients pertaining to legal matters handled by the company

Drafts and reviews warning letters before being sent to counterparts, and supervises their follow-up

Prepares and files complaints before the government authorities (Municipality, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Customs etc.)

Conducts regular market visits and inspections to identify potential infringements or counterfeiting activities and reports any potential matters.
