Senior Chief Accountant (SAP Expert)

A leading company is seeking a highly experienced Chief Accountant to join its finance department and take full ownership of the accounting function, with a strong focus on SAP ERP systems.

Experience Required: 15 years max

Location: Kuwait - Al Sharq

Responsibilities

1. Lead the operation and management of the SAP accounting system, ensuring accuracy and integrity of all financial data and reports
2. Manage the full accounting cycle including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
3. Prepare and finalize year-end closing files, complete with supporting documents, reconciliations, certificates, and working papers
4. Collaborate with external auditors to produce Financial Statements compliant with IFRS
5. Generate and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to senior management
6. Oversee and approve accounts payable transactions, ensuring precision before General Ledger posting
7. Perform monthly reconciliations for vendor accounts (including current liabilities, retention, and advances)
8. Supervise payroll processing, employee benefits, and end-of-service indemnities
9. Manage contractor payments aligned with contractual milestones and project progress
10. Monitor and analyze budgets, comparing actual vs forecasted, and prepare variance analysis reports
11. Prepare Percentage of Completion (POC) reports weekly/monthly for 10+ ongoing projects, including unbilled revenue and cost tracking

Skills

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or CPA/CMA certification is a plus)
2. 15–20 years of progressive experience in senior accounting roles
3. Expert-level proficiency in SAP ERP and hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP
4. Deep understanding of IFRS and local financial regulations
5. Strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and internal financial reporting
6. Proven leadership and team management capabilities
7. Highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
8. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with auditors and senior leadership
