Job description

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment within the warehouse by implementing, monitoring, and improving health and safety policies, procedures, and practices. This role helps prevent accidents, promotes a strong safety culture, and ensures compliance with local regulations and company standards.

Responsibilities

• Safety Compliance: Ensure warehouse operations comply with local health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Risk Management: Develop and implement risk assessments and safe work procedures.
• Investigation & Reporting: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Training & Awareness: Conduct safety inductions for employees. Provide ongoing training on safe work practices, emergency procedures, and use of PPE.
• Emergency Preparedness: Plan and conduct fire drills and emergency response exercises. Ensure all emergency exits, alarms, and firefighting equipment are in working condition.
• Record Keeping & Reporting: Maintain safety documentation, including inspection reports, training records, and incident logs. Submit regular safety performance reports to management.
• Continuous Improvement: Recommend improvements to warehouse layout and processes to minimize risks. Promote a safety-first culture through regular communication and employee engagement.
