Job summary

Abjengineering seeks a Safety Lead to head a small team of safety officers, promoting a safe working environment across projects. You will advise personnel and subcontractors on safe practices and ensure everyone is trained per company policies and procedures.

You will oversee authorised accident prevention and emergency evacuation programs, conduct regular safety inspections and investigations, and provide specialist safety education to staff and site teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in any engineering discipline is required.
• International Standards in Safety and related policies.
• First Aid, Fire Fighting and emergency skills expected.
• Training and presentation skills desirable for safety briefings.
• Supervisory and auditing skills for safety management.
• 6–10 years of Oil & Gas sector experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of safety officers to promote a safe working environment.
• Advise project personnel and subcontractors on safe practices.
• Ensure staff are informed and trained per company policies.
• Implement accident prevention and emergency evacuation programs.
• Conduct safety inspections and corrective actions regularly.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To lead a small team of safety officers in order to promote and maintain a safe working environment.

JOB OBJECTIVES

To advise all project personnel and subcontractors regarding safe working practices and to develop safety consciousness.

To ensure that every employee is informed and trained to perform their job in a productive and safe way in accordance with company policies & procedures.

To ensure that authorised programmes of accident prevention, and emergency evacuation are in place.

To maintain a safe and productive working environment by conducting appropriate safety, corrective action, job hazard, and inspections on a regular basis.

To ensure that accident investigations are conducted, when appropriate, in accordance with Company policies & procedures, under the direction of the Safety Department.

To continuously provide specialist advice & education on safety matters to all project personnel.

To promote a positive HSE attitude amongst project employees using an authorised scheme of incentives and deterrents.
