We are looking for a Radiology Technician to join our team and provide exceptional healthcare across the region.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; developing radiographs; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments.
- Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Works independently, performs all routine and specialized radiography procedures, and associated responsibilities, as dictated by the workload in the rostered area, ensuring necessary patient care for all ages.
- Acts independently in the assessment of referrals for radiography examinations, taking responsibility to reduce unnecessary ionizing radiation exposure, and assessing patient conditions to determine appropriate diagnostic imaging methods.
- Adheres to departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and regulations relevant to radiography patient care. Maintains accurate records of all imaging using appropriate systems.
- Follows hospital radiation safety, protection, and MRI safety policies, taking action against non-compliance.
- Supports the Radiography Supervisor to maintain expertise and reduce faults/issues, ensuring safe operation of radiography equipment and optimal resource utilization.
- Verifies X-ray requests to ensure recommended procedures align with physician orders.
- Selects immobilization devices when necessary to prevent patient movement and ensure safety and comfort.
- Labels all X-ray films clearly with patient’s name, ID, and hospital number.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Prepares contrast media after assessing patient risk for adverse reactions.
- Monitors patient condition, including vital signs, IV fluids, oxygen, etc., as required.
- Ensures emergency trolley is available for immediate response in emergencies.
- Preserves patient dignity at all times.
- Provides full explanations to patients regarding procedures, including diet restrictions and medications.
- Uses X-ray equipment and accessories following safety standards and codes of practice.
- Wears personal monitoring devices, reviews occupational exposure reports.
- Reports equipment malfunctions to the radiologist and chief technician.
- Inspects and cleans screens and cassettes, processes exposed films.
- Monitors and maintains stock levels for consumables.
