Job description

Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Quality Control & Aircraft Records, the Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all maintenance performed on Company aircraft, engines, appliances, and accessories complies with Atlas Air policies and Federal Aviation Regulations to maintain airworthiness. Inspectors must hold a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics License and be authorized by the Chief Inspector.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee aircraft maintenance to ensure all inspection items are satisfactorily completed and procedures adhere to FAA regulations and company policies.
  • Perform aircraft inspections according to maintenance program specifications to ensure airworthiness.
  • Conduct re-inspections (Buy-Back) of corrected discrepancies.
  • Perform required inspections on 'RII' items.
  • Assist in reviewing aircraft maintenance records.
  • Recommend updates to maintenance procedures and review/update manuals such as GMM, RVSM, ETOPS, LLM, and aircraft servicing manuals.
  • Perform receiving inspections on parts and hardware to ensure proper documentation, packaging, and airworthiness.
  • Monitor maintenance by outside vendors, verify quality, review flight logs, and authorize maintenance releases.
  • During Heavy Checks, audit documentation for completeness and verify that mechanics/inspectors are qualified and all RII items are inspected by authorized personnel.
  • Monitor maintenance during Heavy Checks to ensure adherence to processes, procedures, and proper coordination with MRO supervision.
  • Review work packages for completeness and proper signoff before airworthiness release.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
  • 7-10 years of aircraft maintenance experience, including 3 years in inspection or with RII authorization.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations, aircraft specifications, and manuals.
  • At least 5 years of experience working on Boeing aircraft.

Special Demands:

  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Valid Driver's License and US or relevant country Passport.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for up to 30 days.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital manuals.

Salary Range: $91,000 - $122,500. Compensation will depend on experience, location, and skillset.
