A leading engineering firm in Kuwait is seeking a Protection and Control System Engineer for rehabilitation work at Al-Zour South power station. Project Scope
- Rehabilitation work for 300KV GIS at Al-Zour South power station.
- Include removal of old 300KV switchgear, removal of old local control panel, change busbar & GIB insulator, install new 300KV GIS, reuse of some LV control cables, new LV cable laying and termination, testing, and commissioning.
Experience
- Protection and control system Engineer with at least 7-10 years of experience in Kuwait, familiar with MEW primary substations (400/300/132/33/11/.415 KV). Preferred experience in one & half scheme and double busbar configurations for 400/300/132KV substations.
- Ability to understand schematic diagrams from different manufacturers.
- Troubleshooting faults.
- Panel modification work.
- Preparation of project cable lists, termination schedules, red mark drawings, and as-built drawings.
- Carrying out coordination tests and commissioning activities for protection systems (e.g., busbar protection, 3 circuit breaker protection, bay protection, OHL main-1 & main-2 protection, generator protection, and couple transformer protection).
- Preparation and modification of site test reports for protection & control panels, and follow-up with clients for approval.
- Responsible for arranging and obtaining necessary PTWs (Permit to Work).
- Managing subcontractor teams daily.
- Coordinating with MEW site engineers and representatives daily.
- Coordinating with MEW safety and security departments for firefighting isolation and normalization daily.
- Estimating and ordering local purchase materials as required.
- Supporting erection and testing activities for project SVs.
- Reporting to the project manager on daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
