Project Manager (Expression of Interest)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently inviting applications for Project Manager (expression of interest) with extensive experience in Engineering projects, to be based in Kuwait.

Main Objective is to create delivery excellence across assigned projects, provide certainty and confidence to the customer/project sponsor, and ensure robust control of project scope, schedule, cost, and risk. This includes specifying and coordinating the implementation and completion of a moderate-sized project, a portfolio of small projects, or a major component of a large project. Responsibilities include safe delivery, meeting quality, schedule, and cost targets, managing associated risks, and ensuring project delivery to agreed specifications, managing change, customer relationships, and adherence to reporting and governance standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• P&L responsibility with commercial and financial accountability, including revenue delivery, margin management, budgeting, forecasting, risk and opportunity reviews, cost controls, accounts payable/billing, and cash collection.
• Contribute to and review project proposals and plans, including determining timeframes, procedures, staffing requirements, and resource allocation. Assist in setting project evaluation parameters.
• Negotiate changes to project scope or specifications with customers, following Change Management processes.
• Develop opportunities for innovation, such as digitalisation, technology use, work sharing, and high-value engineering centers to add value for Wood and customers.
• Establish project procedures and lead the production of the project execution plan, including scope, deliverables, schedule, budget, organizational structure, and risk register.
• Regularly report project progress to senior management and/or the customer.
• Ensure delivery of schedule and financial performance, proactively intervening to prevent slippage.
• Ensure team members' competence to carry out their work.
• Lead risk identification and mitigation during project execution.
• Oversee HSSE leadership, establish initiatives and audits, and address HSSE and quality issues proactively.
• Guide and direct multidisciplinary project teams, including external specialists and staff from multiple offices and sites.
• Promote a culture of performance improvement and ethical behavior, ensuring compliance with laws and policies.
• Oversee proposals and call-offs within delegation of authority, ensuring contractual and ethical standards are met.
• Coach, mentor, and empower team members for decision-making within established parameters.

QUALIFICATIONS

• University degree in a relevant discipline.
• Project Management Professional (PMP), Associate in Project Management (APM), or equivalent certification preferred.
• Over 15 years of relevant experience, including 5-10 years managing projects or project components, with expertise in the oil and gas, refinery, or petrochemical industry, especially in the Middle East.
• Proven project management experience and understanding of business issues.
• Deep knowledge of project management techniques, practices, and strategies.
• Experience in stakeholder management, risk management, estimation techniques, contract types, project initiation, quality assurance, procurement, scheduling, and information management.
• Strong safety focus, with an uncompromising approach to risk management.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate, influence, and develop diverse teams and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Decisive, adaptable, and resourceful in managing resources and resolving issues.
