Production Engineer Job Description

The Production Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling daily production activities to ensure smooth feeding of assembly lines. They must ensure process controls are in place and followed to maintain consistent quality, and that material consumption aligns with BOM.

Key responsibilities include minimizing process scrap, improving process efficiency, and implementing improvement ideas. They will oversee workforce training and development to enhance skills and ensure shop floor discipline and professionalism. Maintaining a safe workplace, proper housekeeping (5S), and ensuring the use of PPE are essential.

The role involves planning and maintaining tools, racks, forklifts, and other equipment, defining departmental objectives in PQCDSM terms, and monitoring departmental OEE for continuous improvement. Capacity mapping, process upgradation, and production enhancement planning are also crucial.

Additionally, the Production Engineer will prepare capital investment plans, evaluate suppliers, participate in contract negotiations, and coordinate with suppliers for technical and design clarifications. They will monitor project progress, generate Kaizens, and improve critical processes like brazing, welding, vacuuming, and painting.
