Job summary

UNITED STEEL INDUSTRIAL CO. in Kuwait seeks a Pasting Operator for a Ferro Silicon Plant to safely prepare, charge, and monitor electrode paste, ensuring stable furnace operation and adherence to SOPs.

You will work in a multicultural team, perform routine inspections, maintain logs, and coordinate with Control Room Operators and maintenance staff while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or certificate in mechanical or industrial fields.
• Experience in ferroalloy/industrial operations is preferred.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and charge electrode paste into the electrode casing per SOP.
• Monitor paste consumption, height, baking, and slipping.
• Verify that the paste is free from contamination.
• Maintain cleanliness around the electrode pasting area.
• Coordinate with Control Room Operator and Shift In-Charges about electrode condition.
• Support shutdowns and routine furnace maintenance as needed.

Job Overview

We are looking for a talented and skilled Pasting Operator for a Ferro Silicon Plant to join our multicultural and diverse team in Kuwait. You will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing electrode pasting activities by preparing, handling, and charging electrode paste in accordance with approved operating procedures and production requirements. The role will maintain continuous electrode consumption, support stable furnace operation, and ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with company safety, quality, and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and charge electrode paste into the electrode casing according to the approved SOP.
• Monitor electrode paste consumption, height, baking condition, and slipping activities.
• Verify that the paste is free from contamination.
• Maintain cleanliness around the electrode pasting area.
• Support any section or area as needed.
• Always coordinate with the Control Room Operator and Shift In-Charges about electrode condition.

Qualifications

• Vocational or Technical Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical, Industrial Operations, Metallurgical Processes, Industrial Maintenance, Product Operations, or a related technical discipline.

Preferred Experience

• Vocational or Technical Certificate: Minimum 3 years of experience in Ferro Silicon, ferroalloy, steel, smelting, mining, or other heavy industrial operations.
• Diploma: Minimum 2 years of experience in Ferro Silicon, ferroalloy, steel, smelting, mining, or other heavy industrial operations.
• Exposure to electrode paste charging, electrode handling activities, furnace operations, or production support activities in high‑temperature industrial environments.
• Experience working in submerged arc furnaces (SAF), electric arc furnaces (EAF), ferroalloy plants, foundries, or similar process industries.
• Prior exposure to shift operations, routine inspections, shutdown activities, and industrial safety procedures.
• Experience with operating procedures, inspection checklists, and equipment monitoring activities.

Job‑Specific Skills

• Ability to safely handle, prepare, and charge electrode paste in accordance with approved operating procedures.
• Basic understanding of electrode systems, electrode paste consumption, electrode slipping concepts, and baking processes.
• Ability to monitor electrode conditions and identify abnormal operating situations such as irregular consumption, paste bridging, casing damage, or poor baking conditions.
• Ability to conduct routine inspections of electrode paste charging systems, electrode casings, and associated equipment.
• Ability to maintain accurate operational logs, inspection records, and shift reports.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with Control Room Operators, Shift In‑Charges, and Maintenance personnel.
• Ability to support shutdown activities and routine furnace maintenance work.
• Ability to identify and report equipment defects, operational abnormalities, and safety concerns promptly.
• Strong adherence to safety standards, SOPs, lockout/tagout (LOTO), permit‑to‑work requirements, and emergency procedures.
• General understanding of Ferro Silicon production processes and submerged arc furnace (SAF) operating principles.
• Strong situational awareness, teamwork, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
