Overview
The purpose of the Infrastructure and Networking Specialist role is to design, implement, maintain, and support the organization’s IT infrastructure and network systems. This role ensures high availability, security, and performance of network services and infrastructure components, enabling seamless business operations and communication. The specialist plays a key role in troubleshooting technical issues, optimizing system performance, and supporting IT projects and upgrades.
- Implement the IT Department’s set policies and procedures and comply with the company’s other policies.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and implement secure and scalable LAN/WAN, VPN, and wireless network solutions.
- Plan and execute network upgrades and expansions to meet business needs.
- Maintain and monitor servers (physical and virtual), storage systems, and cloud infrastructure.
- Ensure system performance, availability, and reliability through regular maintenance and optimization.
- Implement network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, data protection regulations, and best practices.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues across the infrastructure.
- Monitor network and server performance using tools and dashboards.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and backup procedures.
- Test and document recovery strategies to ensure business continuity.
- Create and maintain up-to-date documentation for network diagrams, system configurations, and procedures.
- Work with cross-functional IT teams to support infrastructure-related projects.
- Coordinate with external vendors for equipment procurement, support, and licensing.
Reports
Develop and submit required reports pertaining to IT Infrastructure activities, including identification of potential problems and recommendations for corrective action, forecasts trends and make recommendations, to the Direct Manager.
Skills
- Bachelor Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS or related field.
- Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS or related field would be an advantage.
- Certification in Network Administration or relevant certification is preferred.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 4 -6 years of experience in the same or related field.
- Excellent knowledge regarding all IT related activities.
