Job description

To provide a welcoming, efficient, and memorable first and last impression for guests, ensuring smooth restaurant operations by managing guest seating, maintaining cleanliness, and delivering exceptional customer service to enhance the overall dining experience.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the entrance is clean, free of debris, and inviting.
  2. Keep iPad and menus clean before the start of the shift and ensure that the same is maintained throughout the shift.
  3. Check with the manager to ensure there are no large or private parties you are unaware of.
  4. Maintain knowledge of daily menu changes, specials, and promotions to inform and engage guests.
  5. Open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant.
  6. Greet guests, guide them to their table, and pull out the seat for ladies when necessary.
  7. Upon seating, offer guests a menu and inform them of their server’s name. Inspect the table for proper presentation and completeness.
  8. Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible.
  9. Monitor the flow of guests entering and exiting the restaurant, ensuring efficient turnover and minimizing waiting times.
  10. Keep count at all times of available tables and the pace of the queue.
  11. When immediate seating is limited, record guest name, details, and the number of guests, and provide guests with the estimated waiting time.
  12. Call out the guest when tables become available.
  13. Relay messages to waiters and assistant waiters as needed.
  14. Keep an eye on the cleanliness of the dining room, entryway, bathrooms, and menus throughout operations.
  15. Answer the phone in a professional manner.
  16. Respond to guest inquiries and assist the team with guest feedback on the QR code.
  17. Anticipate guest needs by observing body language and responding promptly to requests or concerns.
  18. Handle complaints diplomatically and escalate issues to management when necessary to ensure guest satisfaction.
  19. Thank guests as they leave, check that everything was wonderful, and invite them to return.
  20. Say good-bye to all guests, as the hostess is the last impression they have when leaving.
  21. Perform end-of-shift tasks, including updating the manager on any outstanding issues and restocking supplies for the next shift.
  22. Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement.
  23. Always maintain and follow food safety regulations and norms.
Skills
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years’ experience in the same position.
  • Education Qualification: Preferably a diploma/degree (preferable in Hospitality Management).
