Job description

Overview

This position will be physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Chief of Fire Prevention, Lead, this role involves planning, organizing, and conducting fire prevention activities, including fire inspections, investigations, public education, plan reviews, and system acceptance inspections. The incumbent will assist in implementing and managing the Fire Prevention Program to ensure compliance with relevant policies and standards, including the Performance Work Statement, Army Regulation 420-1, DOD Manual 6055.06, UFC, NFPA standards, and others.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct facility fire inspections and maintain documentation.
  • Review plans to ensure fire protection systems comply with policies and UFC guidance.
  • Participate in and maintain the fire extinguisher exchange program.
  • Conduct training for Facility Managers, Fire Wardens, and other personnel.
  • Coordinate with DPW for final acceptance inspections on new constructions and renovations.
  • Document inspections and testing of wet pipe sprinkler systems.
  • Participate in Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) programs.
  • Assist in formulating long-term goals for personnel, facilities, materials, and equipment protection.
  • Support fire investigations as per AR 420-1 specifications.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • At least five (5) years of fire prevention experience.
  • Combination of education and experience may substitute for experience requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Science preferred.
  • Required certifications per DOD Manual 6055.06, including Fire Inspector II, Fire Investigator (preferred), Public Fire and Life Safety Educator, HazMat Awareness, and others as specified.
  • Must pass physical exam, background check, and possess a valid U.S. passport.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain/maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain U.S. Government and host nation driver's licenses.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience, including as a Fire Inspector or Prevention Specialist.
  • Experience in military, DOD, or civilian sectors preferred.
  • Certifications as a Plans Examiner are highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication, word processing, and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of occupancy classifications, fire hazards, and occupant load factors.
  • Understanding of fire department operations, safety, fire alarm systems, fire behavior, extinguishers, PPE, water supplies, hazardous materials, fire prevention, and cause determination.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to extreme cold and heat, noise, and hazards such as moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, high places, and chemicals.

Physical Requirements:

  • Light work involving exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and minimal force constantly.
