Fire Captain

Overview

This position is physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

1. Implement fire protection programs in accordance with the Performance Work Statement, maintaining a safe workplace and complying with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Quality Assurance (QA) requirements. Ensure all subordinate employees are trained and understand these requirements. (10%)
2. Conduct fire inspections, ensure facility safety, and maintain documentation. Operate digital fire alarm equipment and perform logistical duties such as equipment accountability and maintenance scheduling. (10%)
3. Respond to emergencies, disasters, and HAZMAT spills as per department protocols. Lead teams in firefighting, rescue, and hazardous materials responses, including entering dangerous environments while wearing PPE. (45%)
4. Supervise firefighters, maintain PPE, and support organizational metrics. Train staff and track data related to performance metrics, supporting achievement of LOGCAP goals. (25%)
5. Communicate effectively with staff and management, participate in meetings, and perform other duties as needed to support department objectives. (10%)

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent; Associate Degree in Fire Science preferred.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Clearance.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to obtain U.S. Government Motor Vehicle and host nation Driver’s Licenses.
• At least 5 years of experience in organized Fire or Emergency Service, with 2 years at the Company Officer level preferred.
• Certifications as per DOD Manual 6055.06, including Fire Officer II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, Hazmat Operations, Incident Commander, and others preferred.

• Ability to exercise discretion, good judgment, and interpersonal skills.

Supervisory/Budget Responsibilities:

• Supervise 2-6 firefighters, with extensive knowledge of fire department operations and ICS.

Working Conditions:

• Outdoor work in extreme climates, potential exposure to chemicals or biological agents, and use of PPE.
• Ability to work in hazardous environments, climb ladders, and respond in all weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:

• Meet NFPA 1582 standards, capable of strenuous physical tasks, lifting up to 200 pounds, and maneuvering in challenging environments.
