A leading electrical engineering firm seeks an experienced electrical engineer specializing in MV and HV systems. The role involves designing electrical systems, preparing technical documentation, and supporting procurement and installation phases. Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, with 8+ years of experience in estimation engineering. Proficiency in relevant design software is essential. Strong communication and analytical skills are required, along with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
1. Technical Understanding: Interpret and analyze technical specifications and drawings related to
MV and HV systems.
2. System Design: Design electrical systems for HV/EHV plants, substations, and utility
infrastructures in EPC projects.
3. Equipment Layouts: Prepare layouts for AIS, GIS, switchgear, transformers, capacitor banks,
trays, duct banks, tunnels, and auxiliary systems (AC/DC).
4. Code Compliance: Ensure designs comply with relevant codes and standards (IEC, IEEE, BS) and
Kuwait MEW standards (preferred).
5. Design Software: Proficient in design software like CDEGS, Dialux, ETAP; basic knowledge of 3D
modeling tools.
6. Design Calculations: Perform electrical design calculations, including load lists, equipment
sizing, and power system analysis (ETAP), load flow, short circuit, and device coordination.
7. Shop Drawings: Create detailed shop drawings for lighting, cable trays, earthing, conduiting, and
wiring.
8. Tender Preparation: Prepare power/control cable schedules, tray sizing, earthing schedules, and
BOQ/BOM for tenders.
9. Project Support: Assist in procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover processes.
10. RFQ Preparation: Prepare RFQs with full scope, datasheets, specifications, drawings, and risk
assessments.
11. Vendor Evaluation: Evaluate vendor technical submissions for compliance with technical,
contractual, and site requirements.
12. Factory Inspections: Attend factory inspections for routine and type tests, ensuring equipment
meets standards and specifications.
13. Power Cable & Earthing: Perform power cable sizing, earthing resistance calculations, and
lightning protection risk studies.
14. Lighting Design: Design lighting systems using DIALux software.
15. Drawing Interpretation: Review and interpret civil and mechanical drawings (e.g., RCC, steel
frames, P&ID, HVAC, fire protection).
16. DBR Assistance: Support DBR preparation, managing contract scope, risks, and technical issues.
17. Vendor Offer Evaluation: Critically assess vendor offers to ensure all risks and conflicts are
resolved before progressing.

18. Contract Review: Identify discrepancies in contract documents and resolve them through
technical queries.
19. Communication: Exhibit strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a command
of English.
20. Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, procurement, and sales teams to gather data for
quotations.
21. Drawing Proficiency: Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings for MV and HV
switchgear.
22. Tendering Knowledge: Strong knowledge of tendering processes, commercial terms, and
technical proposal preparation.
23. Estimation Tools: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other estimation tools.

27. Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
28. Experience: 8+ years of experience in estimation engineering, particularly in MV & HV
switchgear projects.
