Job Summary
Support coring operations at the wellsite. Operate basic coring systems unsupervised with the coring supervisor on location. Support basic wellsite core handling and processing unsupervised.
- Additional advanced Wellsite Services & Customer / Drilling Contractor interaction
- Operate basic wireline and/or conventional coring systems unsupervised with coring supervisor on location
- Operate basic wellsite handling and processing unsupervised with coring supervisor on location
- Basic personnel management & engineering principles
- Attend morning meetings at rig-site, DWOP, pre-spud meetings, and client meetings
- Liaise with customer, drilling contractor personnel, and office on job requirements and readiness
- Complete required documents as per office requirements (Core Log, field reports, daily updates, rig work permits, safety meetings, inspection reports/certificates/services tickets/teams paperwork, etc.) and acquire additional information/data as requested
- Perform basic interpretation of NOV software (TerraSCOPE log, VibraSCOPE, hydraulics, BHA configurations, Jar Placement)
- Find and follow Repair & Maintenance workshop manuals to service coring tools
- Select different core head configurations and cutter shapes/sizes based on application
- Select different inner tube types based on application
- Complete mandatory core competencies & electives in line with area requirements including HSEQ
- Satisfy requirements of Role Guide to become eligible for promotion to Coring Supervisor
Responsibilities
- Complete workshop equipment preparation (equipment checklist, packing/unpacking)
- Complete pre-mobilization checks using the pre-mob checklist
- Complete pre-job checks
- Write Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
- Perform measurements (OD components, ID components)
- Calculate makeup torque, thermal expansion, etc.
- Handle inner & outer coring system components and core recovery
- Complete pre-planning, rig safety forms, and other required documentation, acquiring additional info/data as needed
- Complete core log and daily reports
Educational Qualification & Experience
- Engineering or Geology Degree preferred
- Experience in a similar operational position within Oil and Gas, specifically rig site related
- Computer literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Knowledge of Drilling & Completion Process
- Basic understanding of Geology
