Job summary

Anton seeks a consultant geologist in Kuwait to provide expertise across exploration trends, programs, and risk assessment. The role requires directing multidisciplinary teams and translating complex data into actionable recommendations for management.

Based in Kuwait, the successful candidate will lead geoscience activities, integrate interpretations, and develop technical programs aligned with business objectives and development plans.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required; PhD preferred.
• Minimum 20 years international Upstream Oil & Gas experience.
• Experience with prospect evaluation, exploration programs, basin analysis and petroleum system evaluation.
• Strong knowledge of geological risk assessment, traps, reservoirs, seals and geohazards.
• Experience with geocellular, geomechanical and fracture modelling.
• Proficiency with industry-standard G&G software and intelligence on AI/ML in geoscience.

About the role

Position Title: Consultant - Geologist

Work Location: Kuwait

Department: On-sync Energy Management Services Company.

Job Responsibilities

1. Provide expert advice on current exploration trends, emerging technologies, and developments in Upstream Oil & Gas exploration.
2. Develop, review, and support exploration programs based on geological, geophysical, technical, and commercial considerations.
3. Advise on the development and implementation of R&D programs related to exploration and subsurface evaluation.
4. Support manpower and capability planning to strengthen technical knowledge and skills within exploration teams.
5. Lead geological and geoscience activities related to prospectivity assessment, prospect maturation, and de-risking of drillable locations.
6. Identify and evaluate prospective areas and drilling targets and assess their resource potential.
7. Support basin analysis, petroleum system evaluation, prospect generation, ranking, and exploration portfolio assessment.
8. Integrate geological and seismic interpretation to identify prospects and assess geological uncertainty and exploration risk.
9. Evaluate key geological risks, including trap integrity, reservoir presence and quality, seal effectiveness, and hydrocarbon charge.
10. Assess geohazards such as faulting, overpressure, formation instability, and drilling-related risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
11. Provide recommendations on optimal drilling locations, exploration strategies, and development approaches.
12. Apply geological, geomechanical, geocellular, and fracture modelling techniques to support prospect evaluation and subsurface decision-making.
13. Develop, validate, and execute technical programs, including defining scope, resources, schedules, budgets, and required capabilities.
14. Advise on technology portfolios and evaluate emerging technologies that can improve exploration efficiency and technical outcomes.
15. Collaborate with E&P companies, technology providers, research institutions, and multidisciplinary teams to evaluate technical challenges and potential opportunities.
16. Translate complex geological and subsurface data into clear, actionable recommendations for management and decision-making.
17. Prepare technical reports, geological maps, prospect evaluations, risk assessments, and management presentations.
18. Provide innovative technical recommendations and resilient exploration strategies to address complex subsurface challenges.
19. Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and capability development to geoscience professionals.
20. Lead multidisciplinary teams involving geologists, geophysicists, geochemists, reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, and other technical specialists.

Qualification Requirements

1. Master’s degree in Geoscience, Geology, Geophysics, or a related discipline; PhD is preferred.
2. Minimum 20 years of international Upstream Oil & Gas experience, with substantial experience in E&P exploration and research & development.
3. Proven experience in prospect evaluation, exploration program development, basin analysis, petroleum system evaluation, and drilling target assessment.
4. Strong experience integrating geological and seismic interpretation for prospect identification, ranking, uncertainty assessment, and exploration risking.
5. Strong knowledge of geological risk assessment, including trap integrity, reservoir presence and quality, seal effectiveness, hydrocarbon charge, and geohazards.
6. Experience with geocellular, geomechanical, and fracture modelling and their application to exploration and development decisions.
7. Proven ability to develop and manage multidisciplinary exploration programs and technical projects.
8. Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams comprising geologists, geophysicists, geochemists, reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, and other specialists.
9. Proficiency with industry-standard G&G software and integrated subsurface interpretation workflows.
10. Familiarity with AI/ML applications and digital workflows in geoscience interpretation is preferred.
11. Experience with carbonate reservoirs and Middle East petroleum systems is an advantage.
12. Strong analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
13. Ability to translate complex geological information into actionable technical and business recommendations.
14. International experience with major or independent E&P companies and/or research institutions is preferred.
15. Strong technical publication record in recognized geoscience or industry journals is an advantage.
