This opportunity suits physicists with Python experience, available for part-time, non-permanent projects. Expected workload is 10–20 hours per week during active phases, at up to $35 per hour equivalent depending on level and pace.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Physics (Theoretical, Experimental, or Computational) or related field.
  • Proficiency in Python for numerical validation.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in applied, research, or teaching roles.
  • Experience with numerical simulation methods.
  • Ability to design problems mirroring real physics workflows.
  • Creative thinker with physics modeling and approximation knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Design original computational physics problems simulating real physics research workflows.
  • Create problems requiring Python programming to solve (using NumPy, SciPy, SymPy).
  • Ensure problems are computationally intensive and not solvable manually within days/weeks.
  • Develop problems requiring non-trivial reasoning in mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics.
  • Base problems on real research challenges or practical physics applications.
  • Verify solutions using Python with standard physics simulation libraries.
  • Document problem statements clearly and provide verified correct answers.
