Job description

Do you have the vision to lead engineering excellence across a cluster of iconic IHG properties? We are looking for an accomplished and forward-thinking Cluster Director of Engineering to join our leadership team at Crowne Plaza & Holiday Inn Kuwait. This role requires strategic oversight, hands-on leadership, and a drive to foster innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence.

A little taste of your day-to-day:

  • Providing transformative leadership through coaching, feedback, and succession planning to develop a strong talent pipeline across the cluster.
  • Offering strategic guidance and executive support to the General Manager and leadership teams to meet the hotel’s goals.
  • Leading and supervising the entire engineering operation, including the Maintenance Request System, preventive maintenance, and capital projects.
  • Driving sustainability initiatives and embedding IHG’s Journey to Tomorrow goals at the property level.
  • Overseeing general cost controls, budgeting, and P&L performance for engineering operations, while ensuring optimal resource utilization.
  • Managing and administering all engineering contracts and ensuring full compliance with safety and legal regulations.
  • Conducting regular inspections of guest rooms, plant equipment, and back-of-house areas to ensure functionality, safety, and standards compliance.
  • Leading the design, pricing, and execution of CAPEX projects, from concept to commissioning.
  • Collaborating closely with Food & Beverage and Operations teams to support technical innovation and new concept activation.
  • Cultivating strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and internal departments to drive synergy and operational efficiency.
  • Fostering an inclusive workplace culture, empowering your team to thrive and deliver their best every day.
  • Ensuring engineering services enhance guest satisfaction, operational readiness, and brand compliance.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders and fostering a proactive, service-driven environment.

What we need from you:

  • Extensive experience in Engineering/Maintenance operations, ideally in a leadership capacity within a multi-property or complex hotel environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of hospitality facilities standards, regulatory compliance, and safety practices.
  • A hands-on leader with a proactive mindset, capable of driving business improvement strategies and implementing robust systems.
  • Skilled in navigating diverse viewpoints and fostering collaboration across multicultural teams.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Proven financial acumen, with experience managing engineering budgets, optimizing labor, and controlling expenses.
  • A passion for innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
  • A relevant degree or certification in Engineering or Facilities Management. Health & Safety training or certification is a plus.
  • Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.
