Position Overview/Duties

  • Serve as a Technical Specialist for architectural systems and features of civil and military construction projects. Collaborate with field offices, A-E representatives, and agencies to provide solutions or alternatives to complex problems.
  • Review ongoing work, respond to referrals, and assist in identifying, coordinating, developing, and advising on solutions for issues like site conditions, design deficiencies, conflicts, and oversights. Make investigations, coordinate with stakeholders, and decide on design changes considering feasibility, economy, and standards. Initiate and design modifications, review proposed revisions, and assist field offices as needed.
  • Review design documents within expertise, coordinate multidisciplinary reviews, assess construction procedures and detailing, and ensure content sufficiency for bidding, awarding, and contract administration. Recommend changes to improve design and cost efficiency.

Other Conditions and Requirements

  • Must obtain and maintain an official government passport.
  • Must be a current US citizen.
  • Meet CENTCOM medical standards: Medical Standards

Desirable KSAs

  • Professional Registration (Architect) is highly desirable.
  • Experience with design charrettes, preparing design drawings, specifications, and analysis.
  • Experience in writing scope-of-work (SOW), RFP documents, technical specifications, and reviewing architects' work.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, or REVIT.
  • Familiarity with various building types such as barracks, dining facilities, and maintenance facilities.
  • Experience surveying buildings for renovation scope.
  • Effective communication within project teams.

Benefits

  • Duty station Kuwait: No danger pay, 15% post differential, 48 hours paid overtime, Sunday premium pay, $123/day per diem, government-provided lodging, and personal leave for a 1-year tour.

Additional Conditions

  • This position requires a SECRET clearance.
  • Work may involve extended shifts of 12-16 hours, with indoor work environments that may experience outages. Living conditions can vary, and environmental conditions may include extreme temperatures and challenging terrain. The role is emergency-essential and may require immunizations and medical examinations.
