Job summary
The University of Kansas in Lawrence is seeking a Library Student Hourly position within Watson Library's Acquisitions & Resource Sharing. You will help process mail, check-in materials, package loans, and support electronic delivery while ensuring accuracy and timely handling of materials.
This role emphasizes public service, independence, and detail-oriented work, with a minimum 10 hours weekly between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, and eligibility requirements for student employment during the term.
Qualifications
- Availability to work a regular schedule of at least 10 hours per week between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Student enrollment requirements during term: at least 6 credit hours.
- Experience with library materials or public service is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Open incoming mail (books, media items, journal issues, etc.).
- Check-in library materials in systems (ILLiad, Voyager).
- Process library materials (holds, checkout, labeling, routing).
- Prepare borrowed material to be mailed back to lending libraries.
- Sort and shelve journals in Watson periodicals location.
- Create, edit and maintain library records.
- Retrieve print books and journals from KU’s collection.
- Scan items for electronic delivery.
- Search KU’s electronic journal subscriptions for requested materials.
