Job summary

Ledgent-Finance- is hiring a Staff Accountant for a nonprofit organization in the New Britain area. The role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, performing month-end close, and supporting financial reporting.

You will record transactions, reconcile accounts, assist with budget preparation, and handle daily AP and cash receipts. The position requires a BS in Accounting/Finance and 2–3 years of experience; nonprofit experience is a plus.

Qualifications

BS degree in accounting or finance.
2–3 years relevant work experience.
Experience in a nonprofit environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Record financial transactions and reconcile bank accounts timely and accurately.
Assist with month-end, quarter, and year-end closing processes including journal entries and reconciliations.
Assist in preparing church budgets and financial statements.
Process and record daily accounts payable and cash receipts.
Support overall financial reporting and the Finance Department.
Keep current with accounting standards and rulings; identify process improvements.
Suggest elimination of unnecessary functions to improve efficiencies.
