Job summary

A reputable library in Los Angeles is seeking a highly organized Librarian to join our team and support community learning initiatives.

You will manage the library's collection, assist patrons with research, and organize events to promote literacy and education. This role requires strong customer service, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field.
Experience in a library setting preferred.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication.

Proficient in using electronic databases for research.

Responsibilities

Manage the library's collection of books, periodicals, audiovisual materials, and electronic resources.
Develop and implement policies for cataloging, classifying and indexing materials.
Assist patrons with research inquiries by providing information literacy instruction and conducting searches using electronic databases.
Respond to reference questions from in-person, email, phone or chat.
Organize events such as book clubs, author readings and workshops to promote literacy.
Collaborate with other departments within the library to develop educational programs for children or adults.
Keep abreast of new developments in library science and technology to improve services offered to patrons.
Train volunteers or interns on library procedures and assist them as needed.
