RoleOverview
TheStudyCounsellorplays a vital role in school- and community-level engagementunder the project. They are responsible for conducting sensitisation sessions,obtaining informed consent, facilitating student and parent communication, andsupporting referral linkages for TB screening and follow-up. The role requiresstrong interpersonal skills, community sensitivity, and the ability to buildtrust with school staff, students, parents, and village stakeholders. The idealcandidate will have a strong foundation in community driven change, withexperience in managing multiple stakeholder tasks preferably in similar NGO orpublic health sector projects.
KeyResponsibilities
Communityand School Engagement:
- Conduct sensitisationsessions for students, parents, and teachers to raise awareness about TBand the purpose of the TFSI project.
- Support thescheduling and coordination of school visits in collaboration with theDistrict Coordinator and Study Team.
- Facilitate informedconsent and assent processes with students and parents/guardians.
- Provide clear andculturally appropriate communication about TB screening and referralprocedures.
- Maintain arespectful, confidential, and supportive environment during all interactions.
Counsellingand Follow-Up:
- Providepre-screening and post-referral counselling to students and families asrequired.
- Encourageparticipation and address any fears, concerns, or misconceptions about TBand the study procedures.
- Supportcommunity-level engagement by coordinating with ASHAs, ANMs, school staff,and local leaders.
- Assist inconducting home visits (where needed) for follow-up on consent, screeningoutcomes, or missed visits.
Documentationand Reporting:
- Maintain accuraterecords of sensitisation sessions, counselling activities, and follow-upinteractions.
- Submitdaily/weekly reports to the District Coordinator and central team as perstandard formats.
- Track consentrates, refusals, reasons for non-participation, and follow-up outcomes.
- Contribute to thepreparation of case studies, success stories, and community engagementsummar ies.
Requirements
Qualifications& Skills
- Bachelor's degreein Psychology, Social Work, Education, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 yearsof experience in counselling, community outreach, or school-basedinterventions.
- Experience workingwith children, adolescents, or in school health programmes is preferred.
- Languages-HindiandEnglish(spokenand written); local dialects are an advantage
- Empathetic andrespectful approach when working with children and families.
- Ability to buildrapport and communicate complex information in simple terms.
- Organised,detail-oriented, and reliable in maintaining records and reports.
- Ability to workindependently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Based at thedistrict site office with daily field travel to schools and communitieswithin the district.
- All counsellingand community engagement activities will follow project SOPs and ethicalguidelines.
- Training andsupervisory support will be provided by the District Coordinator and StudyPI/Co-PI.
- Culturallysensitive and able to adapt to diverse communities.
