Job summary

Topgear Consultants in Vapi seeks an experienced Works Manager Technical to lead boiler and pressure vessel fabrication operations. The role focuses on production management, code compliance, and quality assurance across fabrication, welding, and NDT processes.

Ideal candidate will have 15–20 years in heavy engineering, with IBR/ASME/CE exposure, and a track record of coordinating cross-functional teams to meet safety, quality, and delivery targets. Local candidates preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or diploma in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Additional welding, QA/QC, or NDT certifications are advantageous.
• Extensive experience in pressure vessel and boiler fabrication is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead team and supervise day-to-day workshop and manufacturing operations.
• Plan, organize, and monitor fabrication, assembly, welding, testing, and dispatch.
• Ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules are met.
• Coordinate with design, QA/QC, procurement, and project teams for smooth execution.
• Review fabrication drawings, WPS/PQR, QA plans, and manufacturing procedures.
• Oversee welding activities and QC adherence; supervise NDT activities (RT/UT/MPT/DPT).
• Promote safe working practices and compliance with EHS standards.
• Drive continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and technically competent (Unit Head) Works Manager Technical to lead and oversee manufacturing operations related to boilers, pressure vessels, and allied fabrication activities. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in pressure vessel manufacturing, applicable statutory codes, quality systems, and production management. The role requires leadership in ensuring safe, efficient, code-compliant, and timely execution of manufacturing activities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Additional certifications in welding, QA/QC, or NDT will be an advantage.

Experience

Minimum 1520 years of experience in:

• Pressure vessel manufacturing
• Boiler fabrication
• Heavy engineering industries

Strong exposure to IBR, ASME, and CE code requirements is essential.

Experience handling customer inspections and third-party audits preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Production Management

• Lead his team and supervise day-to-day workshop and manufacturing operations.
• Lead his team and Plan, organize, and monitor fabrication, assembly, welding, testing, and dispatch activities.
• Ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules are achieved.
• Coordinate with design, QA/QC, procurement, and project teams for smooth execution of jobs.
• Review fabrication drawings, WPS/PQR, QA plans, and manufacturing procedures.

Code Compliance & Quality Assurance

Ensure compliance with:

• IBR regulations
• ASME Codes
• CE requirements
• Applicable national and international standards

Liaise with inspection agencies, third-party inspectors, and statutory authorities.

Ensure proper documentation, traceability, and quality records are maintained.

Welding & NDT Supervision

Oversee welding activities and ensure adherence to approved welding procedures with the QC team.

Coordinate and monitor NDT activities including:

• Radiography Testing (RT)
• Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
• Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT)
• Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT)
• Hydro testing and pneumatic testing

Ensure corrective actions are implemented for non-conformities.

Plant & Workforce Management

• Supervise shop floor personnel, engineers, supervisors, contractors, & workers.
• Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with EHS standards.
• Optimize manpower utilization, productivity, and machine availability.
• Conduct technical training and skill development initiatives.

Continuous Improvement

• Drive process improvements in manufacturing efficiency, quality, and cost control.
• Implement preventive and corrective measures to reduce rework and downtime.
• Support modernization and operational excellence initiatives.
