Job summary

Confidential Client is seeking an experienced Web Development Manager to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable web applications from Bangalore on a hybrid model. You will manage a team of frontend and backend engineers, set engineering standards, and collaborate with Product, UX, QA, DevOps, and Platform teams to ensure reliable delivery.

The role requires 8 years of relevant experience and strong hands-on knowledge of React.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js or Python-based

Web Development Manager

We are seeking an experienced Web Development Manager to lead the design, development, and delivery of modern, scalable, secure, and high-performing web applications.

This role combines engineering leadership, technical architecture, people management, and delivery ownership. The successful candidate will lead a team of frontend and backend engineers, establish engineering standards, collaborate closely with Product Management, Architecture, UX, QA, DevOps, and Platform teams, and ensure reliable delivery of business-critical web applications.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with modern web technologies, particularly React.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js and/or Python-based APIs, along with cloud-native architectures, REST APIs, databases, automated testing, CI/CD, and Agile software development.

Candidate should work from office for 1 to 3 days in a week (mandatory) from Bengaluru office and flexible to come on required working days to office. Candidate to have relevant experience around 8 years.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the design, development, testing, deployment, and operation of web applications.

• Drive architecture and design decisions for scalable and maintainable frontend and backend solutions.

• Establish coding standards, design patterns, reusable components, and engineering best practices.

• Conduct and govern code reviews, technical design reviews, and architecture discussions.

• Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, scalability concerns, and security vulnerabilities.

• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption where they provide clear business or engineering value.

2. Web Application Development

• Guide development of responsive and intuitive web applications using modern frontend frameworks such as React.js.

• Oversee development of backend services and APIs using technologies such as Node.js, Python/FastAPI, or equivalent frameworks.

• Ensure effective integration between web applications, APIs, databases, authentication services, and external systems.

• Promote reusable UI components and modular application architecture.

• Ensure applications meet expectations for browser compatibility, accessibility, usability, reliability, and performance.

3. People & Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers.

• Provide technical coaching and support career development.

• Build a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

• Support recruitment, onboarding, knowledge transfer, and capability development.

• Ensure appropriate workload distribution and effective collaboration across the engineering team.

• Encourage engineers to take ownership of solutions from design through production support.

4. Software Delivery & Agile Execution

• Partner with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Architects, QA, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, estimation, retrospectives, and release planning.

• Drive predictable delivery while maintaining software quality.

• Monitor risks, dependencies, blockers, and technical constraints throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Promote accurate estimation, transparent progress tracking, and proactive escalation of delivery risks.

• Balance feature development with technical debt, platform improvements, and operational requirements.

5. DevOps & CI/CD

• Champion automated build, testing, deployment, and release processes.

• Work closely with DevOps and Platform Engineering teams to improve CI/CD pipelines.

• Promote automated quality checks, unit testing, integration testing, security scanning, and deployment controls.

• Support containerized and cloud-native application deployment approaches.

• Ensure appropriate monitoring, logging, observability, and operational readiness are incorporated into application design.

6. Security & Quality

• Ensure secure coding practices are incorporated throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Promote strong authentication, authorization, secrets management, input validation, dependency management, and API security practices.

• Ensure appropriate automated testing and code-quality standards are followed.

• Partner with security and infrastructure teams to address vulnerabilities and compliance requirements.

• Drive root-cause analysis and sustainable fixes for production defects and recurring incidents.

7. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Serve as the primary engineering contact for web development initiatives.

• Collaborate with Product, UX, Architecture, QA, DevOps, Data Engineering, Security, and Infrastructure teams.

• Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, risks, dependencies, and delivery status clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Translate complex technical topics into clear business impact and recommendations.

Required Qualifications
