About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on web developer to own our production website and lead the build of new sites. You will work on a live, revenue-relevant site with real traffic, so care, judgment and attention to detail matter as much as speed. You will maintain and improve what exists, and set the standard for how we build the next ones.
What You Will Do
- Maintain and extend a custom-built, content-managed website, including themes, custom plugins and integrations.
- Build new sites from design to launch, using a consistent design system and reusable components.
- Implement responsive, accessible page templates from design files, with clean, maintainable HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Build and harden lead-capture forms, including validation, spam and bot protection, email delivery and lead logging.
- Own technical SEO: metadata, structured data, sitemaps, redirects, canonical handling and crawl health.
- Improve performance: Core Web Vitals, image and font optimization, caching and CDN behavior.
- Manage analytics and consent, including tag setup, conversion events and privacy compliance.
- Work safely on production: staged changes, verification, rollback plans and clear change documentation.
- Monitor security, updates, backups and uptime, and respond to incidents.
- Document systems and decisions so the next person can pick them up.
What You Bring Required
- Strong PHP and experience with a major open-source content management system, including custom themes and plugins.
- Solid front-end skills: semantic HTML, modern CSS (grid, flexbox, custom properties), and vanilla JavaScript.
- Working knowledge of MySQL and safe database practices.
- Experience with managed hosting, server-side and edge caching, and CDN configuration.
- Hands‑on experience with technical SEO and structured data.
- Understanding of web security: input sanitization, output escaping, nonces, rate limiting and credential handling.
- Experience integrating third‑party APIs, email services and CAPTCHA or bot‑protection services.
- A habit of testing changes against the real, cached, production behavior, not only locally.
Nice to have
- Experience with block‑editor custom blocks.
- Experience with jobs, applicant‑tracking or other large-scale listing data.
- Familiarity with AI‑assisted content workflows and their cost and quality controls.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA).
- Experience with analytics, consent management and regional privacy rules.
How You Work
- You verify before you call something done, and you report results honestly, including failures.
- You write plainly and keep documentation short and useful.
- Yoi avoid unnecessary dependencies and prefer simple, maintainable solutions.
- You can work independently and raise risks early.
