Role & responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications and backend services using PHP and Laravel.
• Design and develop RESTful APIs for web and mobile applications.
• Write clean, reusable, scalable, and maintainable code following PHP and Laravel best practices.
• Work with MySQL/PostgreSQL databases, including database design, queries, relationships, migrations, and optimization.
• Implement Laravel Eloquent ORM, middleware, validation, authentication, authorization, queues, jobs, and scheduled tasks.
• Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, and external services as required.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues and production defects.
• Perform unit testing, API testing, and support QA teams during testing and bug fixing.
• Use Git/GitHub/GitLab for source code management and version control.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, Business Analysts, and project teams to deliver features on time.
• Participate in requirement discussions and understand technical requirements before development.
• Optimize application performance, database queries, and API response times.
• Follow secure coding practices and ensure applications are developed with appropriate authentication, authorization, and data protection.
• Prepare technical documentation for APIs, modules, and application functionality.
• Support application deployment and troubleshooting in Linux/server environments when required.
• Stay updated with the latest PHP, Laravel, backend development, and software engineering practices.

Preferred candidate profile

• 1 to 2 years of hands‑on experience in PHP and Laravel development.
• Strong knowledge of PHP, Laravel, MVC architecture, and Object‑Oriented Programming (OOP).
• Good experience in developing and integrating RESTful APIs.
• Strong knowledge of MySQL/PostgreSQL and SQL queries.
• Hands‑on experience with Laravel Eloquent ORM, migrations, validation, middleware, authentication, and authorization.
• Good understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and basic frontend concepts.
• Experience with Git/GitHub/GitLab and Composer.
• Good knowledge of Postman for API testing and debugging.
• Understanding of JSON, API integration, and third‑party service integration.
• Basic knowledge of Linux, Apache/Nginx, and server deployment will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of Redis, queues, Docker, AWS/Azure, or CI/CD will be an added advantage.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Candidates with experience in SaaS, web applications, API development, or enterprise software projects will be preferred.
