Responsibilities

• Define and own the performance testing strategy, workload models, SLAs, and performance acceptance criteria for distributed microservices.
• Design, develop, and execute automated load, stress, spike, endurance, scalability, and API performance tests.
• Identify and analyze performance bottlenecks across applications, APIs, databases, infrastructure, caching, and messaging components using observability tools.
• Collaborate with development teams to resolve performance issues and drive performance optimization throughout the development lifecycle.
• Produce performance reports, dashboards, capacity planning recommendations, and ensure production readiness for a distributed architecture with 85+ microservices.
• Support manual, functional, and regression testing as needed to ensure end-to-end quality during sprint deliveries and production releases.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Performance & Load Testing Engineer is responsible for designing, executing, and optimizing performance testing strategies across a distributed microservices platform consisting of 85+ services. The role focuses on validating scalability, resilience, throughput, latency, and system stability under varying workloads while identifying bottlenecks across APIs, databases, messaging systems, and infrastructure.

The engineer collaborates closely with the development team to ensure non-functional requirements are validated throughout the SDLC using a shift-left performance engineering approach.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Define and own the performance testing strategy, workload models, SLAs, and performance acceptance criteria for distributed microservices.
• Design, develop, and execute automated load, stress, spike, endurance, scalability, and API performance tests.
• Identify and analyze performance bottlenecks across applications, APIs, databases, infrastructure, caching, and messaging components using observability tools.
• Collaborate with development teams to resolve performance issues and drive performance optimization throughout the development lifecycle.
• Produce performance reports, dashboards, capacity planning recommendations, and ensure production readiness for a distributed architecture with 85+ microservices.

MUST-HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Hands-on experience with: Apache JMeter, k6, Gatling, Azure Load Testing.
• Strong understanding of: Microservices & REST APIs, Distributed Systems.
• Experience with: Azure Monitor, Synthetic Monitoring, Application Insights, Grafana, Prometheus.
• Root cause analysis of performance bottlenecks.
• Understanding of: Threading, Connection pooling, Caching, Asynchronous messaging, Event-driven architectures.

NICE TO HAVE

• Docker container performance analysis.
• Redis performance tuning.
• Distributed tracing using OpenTelemetry.
