Job summary

V Support Solutions in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, is seeking a VMC Setter to operate and set up Vertical Machining Centre machines. The role requires reading engineering drawings, selecting appropriate tools and fixtures, and ensuring dimensional accuracy in production parts.

Qualifications

• ITI or Diploma in Mechanical engineering is required.
• 3–8 years of experience in CNC/VMC setting and operation.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Knowledge of GD&T and dimensional tolerances preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up VMC machines for various components per production plan.
• Read engineering drawings and work instructions precisely.
• Select and install cutting tools, holders, fixtures, and work-holding devices.
• Load, verify, and adjust CNC programs and offsets.
• Perform first piece inspection and ensure tolerances.
• Maintain machine cleanliness and follow safety standards.
• Coordinate with Quality, Production, Tool Room, and Maintenance teams.
• Record production data and tool usage for traceability.

# VMC Setter* Murugesh Lingaraj* October 9, 2026Job Title:: VMC Setter Department:Production / Machine Shop Location:Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu Experience:3–8 Years Qualification:ITI / Diploma – Mechanical preferred Employment Type: Full-Time Job Purpose; To set up and operate Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) machines for manufacturing precision components as per engineering drawings, CNC programs, and production requirements while ensuring dimensional accuracy, quality, productivity, and safety. Key Responsibilities 1.Set up VMC machines for different components as per production requirements. 2.Read and understand engineering drawings, component drawings, and work instructions. 3.Select and install appropriate cutting tools, holders, collets, fixtures, and work-holding devices. 4.Load, verify, and make necessary corrections to CNC programs. 5.Set and adjust: 1.Work offsets 2.Tool offsets 3.Tool length compensation 4.Wear offsets 5.Work coordinates 6.Cutting parameters 6.Perform job setting, tool setting, and component alignment accurately. 7.Conduct first-piece inspection and ensure dimensions are within specified tolerances. 8.Operate VMC machines and monitor the machining process during production. 9.Identify and rectify machining problems such as: 1.Dimensional variation 2.Tool wear 3.Burrs 4.Poor surface finish 5.Tool breakage 6.Chatter and vibration 10.Use measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, and other inspection instruments. 11.Make necessary tool offset and parameter corrections to maintain component quality. 12.Coordinate with Quality, Production, Tool Room, and Maintenance teams for process-related issues. 13.Monitor tool life and replace worn or damaged tools as required. 14.Maintain production output according to the daily/shift production plan. 15.Minimize rejection, rework, tool consumption, and material wastage. 16.Maintain machine cleanliness and follow 5S and housekeeping standards. 17.Follow all required safety procedures and PPE requirements. 18.Record production, inspection, tool, and machine-related information as required. 19.Support new component development, trial production, and process improvement activities. 20.Guide VMC operators/helpers on machine operation and basic process requirements when required. Required Technical Skills; •Good knowledge of VMC machine setting and operation •Knowledge of CNC machining processes •Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings •Knowledge of GD&T and dimensional tolerances is preferred •Knowledge of cutting tools and tool selection •Knowledge of work-holding fixtures and component setting •Knowledge of tool offsets and work offsets •Basic knowledge of CNC programming and G-code/M-code •Knowledge of cutting speed, feed, depth of cut, and machining parameters •Good knowledge of precision measuring instruments •Ability to troubleshoot machining and quality issues Preferred Experience; •Experience in CNC/VMC machining of precision components •Experince in job setting and tool setting •Experience with different materials such as MS, EN-series steels, SS, Aluminium, and cast components is preferred. •Experience with Fanuc / Mitsubishi / Siemens or similar CNC controls is preferred.
