About the Role
Humanize is looking for a Visual Designer & Video Editor with a strong design sense, creative judgment, and the ability to understand the context behind what they are creating.
The role will span graphic design, video editing, and website design/building on Webflow.
We are looking for someone who can go beyond executing instructions. The person should be able to understand the requirements, audience, and purpose of a piece of content, think through how it can be presented visually, and then take it through to execution.
A strong eye for design, attention to detail, curiosity, and a willingness to experiment with different formats and tools will be important.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Video Editing & Content Repurposing
A significant part of the role will involve working with recorded conversations, interviews, podcasts, founder videos, event sessions, and other long-form content.
Responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing long-form videos and understanding the conversation before beginning the edit.
- Identifying strong sections that can work as meaningful standalone short-form videos.
- Converting longer recordings into short-form content for platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Making editorial decisions about what should be retained, removed, shortened, or rearranged.
- Ensuring short-form videos have enough context to make sense independently.
- Using typography, motion graphics, animation, transitions, visual effects, overlays, B-roll, and supporting visuals where they strengthen the content.
- Creating strong openings and endings while keeping the content natural and aligned with the person or brand.
- Maintaining visual consistency across a video series.
- Occasionally editing longer-form videos such as podcasts, interviews, conversations, or event recordings.
- Preparing content in the appropriate dimensions and formats for different digital platforms.
- Ensuring the final output maintains strong visual and audio quality.
The person should gradually be able to recognise what makes a moment worth turning into content, rather than relying only on someone else to provide timestamps or exact editing instructions.
2. Graphic & Visual Design
The person will be responsible for developing visual assets for Humanize and the clients we work with.
Responsibilities may include:
- Designing social media graphics, carousels, and other digital content.
- Creating illustrations and visual concepts.
- Designing infographics that communicate information in a simple and engaging way.
- Developing visuals that support written content, ideas, or narratives.
- Creating thumbnails, covers and other supporting creative assets.
- Translating abstract ideas or written concepts into suitable visual formats.
- Working with typography, imagery, composition, colour, spacing and visual hierarchy.
- Adapting the visual approach based on different clients, brands and audiences.
- Working with photographs, illustrations and existing brand assets to create polished visual compositions.
- Developing layouts for presentations, documents or other communication material where required.
- Experimenting with different design formats and visual directions.
The objective is not simply to make something look good. The person should understand what the visual needs to communicate and why, and design accordingly.
3. Website Design & Webflow
The person will also support the design and development of websites and landing pages, primarily using Webflow.
Responsibilities will include:
- Designing and building websites, landing pages and microsites in Webflow.
- Understanding the purpose, audience and content of a website and translating that into an appropriate structure and visual direction.
- Thinking through page hierarchy, navigation, user flow and responsive layouts.
- Translating brand identity into a consistent digital design using typography, imagery, colour, spacing and interactions.
- Building responsive pages across desktop, tablet and mobile and maintaining consistency across the website.
The person does not need to be a full-stack developer, but should be comfortable taking a website from design thinking to a functional Webflow build.
4. Creative Thinking & Visual Direction
We are looking for someone who contributes creatively rather than only executing predefined briefs.
This includes:
- Understanding the larger context behind a creative requirement.
- Thinking through different ways an idea could be visualised before beginning execution.
- Bringing references, inspiration and ideas to the team.
- Suggesting stronger creative approaches where appropriate.
- Exploring multiple directions when a requirement calls for it.
- Understanding when something needs to be minimal, expressive, editorial, premium or more functional.
- Balancing aesthetics with clarity and purpose.
- Developing an understanding of different clients and founders so that every brand does not end up looking the same.
- Staying aware of evolving design, video, and digital formats without simply following trends.
The person should have a strong understanding of aesthetics and be able to judge what fits the context, brand, audience and purpose rather than applying the same creative approach everywhere.
Skills and qualities we look for:
We would ideally look for someone with:
- Strong graphic and visual design fundamentals.
- Good understanding of typography, layout, colour, composition and visual hierarchy.
- Experience editing short-form digital videos.
- Ability to work with long-form footage and repurpose it into short-form content.
- Understanding of video pacing, storytelling and content flow.
- Experience with captions, motion graphics, animation, and visual effects.
- Ability to create graphics, illustrations, infographics and other visual assets.
- Experience designing and building websites in Webflow.
- Understanding of responsive web design, website hierarchy and basic user experience principles.
- Basic understanding of audio editing and enhancement.
- Familiarity with social media formats and specifications.
- Ability to organise creative files and maintain consistency across assets and projects.
Tools:
Experience with some combination of the following would be useful:
- Figma
- Webflow
- CapCut or similar video editing tools
Experience with every tool is not mandatory. Strong visual judgment, creative thinking, and the ability to learn new tools are more important than expertise in a specific software.
