Responsibilities

• Manage capital activity: calls, distributions, equalizations, true-ups, and side-letter economics.
• Oversee fund valuations, waterfalls, and carried interest calculations.
• Ensure regulatory, tax, and reporting compliance including AIFMD, FATCA/CRS.
• Lead process improvements, automation, and data governance initiatives.
• Mentor and manage global fund accounting teams across locations/time zones.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the end-to-end private equity fund accounting function across multiple funds, vintages, strategies and complex structures, including LP funds, feeder funds, parallel vehicles, SPVs, co-investments and secondary funds.
• Oversee monthly and quarterly financial close, financial statements, partner capital accounts and investor-level reporting under US GAAP/IFRS.
• Manage end-to-end capital activity, including capital calls, distributions, equalizations, true-ups and side-letter economics.
• Oversee fund valuations and waterfall calculations, including carried interest, preferred return, catch-ups and management fee calculations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, tax and investor reporting requirements, including AIFMD, Form PF, FATCA/CRS and relevant local filings.
• Partner with Tax teams on K-1s, investor tax reporting and complex jurisdictional requirements.
• Establish and maintain accounting policies, SOPs, RACI frameworks, controls and escalation procedures.
• Lead process improvement, automation and standardization initiatives to improve reporting accuracy, reduce manual work and shorten close cycles.
• Act as a senior point of contact for LPs/GPs and internal stakeholders, handling complex accounting and reporting queries.
• Collaborate with Investor Relations, Front Office/Deal Teams, Tax, Legal, Compliance, Portfolio Monitoring, auditors and external fund administrators.
• Lead fund and investor onboarding, transitions and new fund launches, including cutover planning, controls and risk management.
• Drive the roadmap and optimization of fund accounting systems, data platforms, reporting tools and automation solutions.
• Establish strong data governance, reconciliation frameworks, audit trails, segregation of duties and access controls.
• Manage and develop fund accounting teams across locations/time zones, including workforce planning, succession planning and capability development.
• Monitor key operational KPIs covering timeliness, quality, efficiency, controls, stakeholder satisfaction and team performance.
• Prepare executive-level dashboards, variance analysis, waterfall summaries and management/regulatory reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• CPA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
• 14+ years of experience in private equity, alternative investments or fund accounting, with significant leadership experience.
• Strong experience managing multi-fund portfolios and complex fund structures, including feeders, parallel funds, SPVs, co-investments and multi-currency funds.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, ASC 946 and ASC 820.
• Hands-on understanding of private equity waterfall calculations, including deal-by-deal and whole-of-fund structures, carried interest, preferred returns and catch-ups.
• Strong knowledge of management fees, capital calls, distributions, equalizations, partner capital accounts and side-letter economics.
• Experience with PE/fund accounting platforms such as Investran, Allvue or eFront.
• Exposure to Power BI/Tableau and automation tools such as RPA, Alteryx or Anaplan is preferred.
• Proven experience in process transformation, automation, controls and operational improvement.
• Experience managing large/global teams across multiple locations and time zones.
• Strong stakeholder management experience with LPs, GPs, auditors, administrators, tax teams, IR and senior management.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information to senior stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of risk management, internal controls, data governance and regulatory compliance.
• Willing to work on Night shifts (6:30 pm - 3:30 AM IST)
