Job summary

KBR, a leader in sustainable technology solutions, is seeking a Vessel Analytical Engineer to design and specify process vessels, perform hydraulic calculations, and determine internals to meet process requirements.

You will coordinate with vendors and clients, plan work, guide junior engineers, and may undertake overseas assignments while upholding safety and ESG standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or chemical engineering is required.
  • Experience or familiarity with sizing and designing process equipment for various process plant applications.
  • Understanding of tray and packing vendor software and related design guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Design and specification of process vessels such as trays, packed columns, knock out drums, and separators.
  • Perform detailed process and hydraulic calculations using proprietary correlations and industry standards to size vessels and specify internals.
  • Interface with vendors and clients; provide technical guidance to junior engineers for basic design packages.
  • Plan, schedule and conduct work independently; potentially oversee overseas assignments and work sharing with Houston.
  • Manage direct reports, establish performance goals, and review performance.
  • Maintain safety training and compliance with governmental and corporate safety guidelines.
  • Embed ESG principles in operations and strive toward sustainability goals.

Job description

Title: Vessel Analytical Engineer

Job Title Vessel Analytical Engineer Division KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

  • 1. Candidate will be responsible for analytical design and specification of process vessels such as trays and packed columns, knock out drums and vapor-liquid-liquid separators, fixed bed reactors and storage tanks.
  • 2. Vessel analytical engineer will perform detailed process and hydraulic calculations using KBR proprietary correlations and the related industry standards to determine the vessel size and design/ specify internals necessary to achieve process requirements.
  • 3. Also should have working understanding of use of tray and packing vendor’s software and be familiar with FRI design guidelines.
  • 4. Candidate is expected to plan, schedule and conduct work on a relatively independent basis and provide technical guidance to junior engineers in preparation of basic engg. Design packages of KBR technologies. Candidate will also be required to interface with vessel internals vendors and clients with a possibility of overseas assignments.
  • 5. Shall be managing direct reports, establishing individual performance goals and objectives and reviewing performance against objectives.
  • 6. Work sharing with Houston.
  • 7. Maintains a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with all governmental regulations and corporate safety guidelines. Ensures that all personnel assigned to the operations receive appropriate safety training and adhere to all safety standards.

Qualifications including Required Education, Experience, & Skills: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or chemical engineering. Minimum of 0-5 years related experience, with typical experience ranging from 0-5 years. Skill: Experience in sizing and designing process equipment for a wide range of applications within the process plant industry.
