Job summary

Citi seeks a Regulatory Risk Officer in Chennai to drive remediation analytics and ensure prompt, well-documented remediation for customer impacts. This individual contributor SME will work within the USCC Centralized Customer Remediation Team, collaborating with Issue Owners and senior stakeholders to guide, challenge, and document remediation efforts.

The role emphasizes expert data analytics, policy guidance, and cross-functional coordination with regulatory and audit teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/University degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in regulatory risk analytics/remediation.
  • Expert knowledge of programming languages SAS/SQL, Python and/or R.
  • Experience creating and analyzing large complex datasets to identify trends and patterns.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to interact with Senior Bank, Regulatory and Audit Management.

Responsibilities

  • Subject matter expert in data analytics and remediation methodology; may train and mentor staff.
  • Own remediation population and impact analyses for USCC owned issues, including regulatory ones.
  • Provide guidance on remediation processes and policies and partner with leaders to execute programs.
  • Create documentation conforming to Internal Audit and Regulatory expectations.
  • Lead data remediation lifecycle activities including root cause analysis and post-remediation work.

Job description

The Regulatory Risk Officer is responsible for driving customer remediation analytics to completion including execution and validation. This position will be part of the USCC Centralized Customer Remediation Team (CCRT). The objective of the USCC CCRT is to quickly assess and identify customer impacts and ensure remediation is completed promptly with the appropriate detailed documentation required by Internal Audit and the Regulators. These activities will be conducted in close partnership with the Issue Owners and Managers within U.S. Consumer Cards. Excellent communication skills are required to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Highly developed communication and diplomacy skills are required, to guide, influence, and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. This role is for an individual contributor SME.

Responsibilities:
  • Subject matter expert related to data analytics and remediation methodology. May train, mentor, and coach lower-level staff.
  • Owns, designs, and manages client remediation population and impact analyses for USCC owned and impacted issues, including those that are Regulatory.
  • Provide expertise and guidance related to the USCC remediation processes and policies, partners with other department leaders to define, prioritize, and execute remediation programs.
  • Create comprehensive documentation that conforms to Internal Audit and Regulatory expectations.
  • Provide thought leadership and effective challenge throughout the data remediation lifecycle (including root cause analysis, remediation planning, code review for queries related to population completeness planning and execution criteria, and post remediation implementation).
  • Challenge preconceived notions about data to ensure no stone is left unturned to identify complete universe of impacted customers is uncovered.
  • Cultivate and support a sustainable and repeatable control environment by continuing to improve identified opportunities.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Recommended Qualifications:
  • 12+ years relevant experience
  • Prior Data Analytics or Remediation experience within Banking Industry is preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of programming languages (e.g., SAS/SQL, Python and/or R).
  • Experience creating and analyzing large complex datasets with the ability to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Should have excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office - particularly Excel (metrics and data analysis), PowerPoint (presentation decks), and Word (writing and editing procedural and technical documentation).
  • Professional ability and presence to interact with Senior Bank, Regulatory and Audit Management.
  • Project management knowledge and experience working with diverse groups of stakeholders to achieve milestones and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, concurrent large-scale projects from ideation through testing and implementation.
