Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Review US federal and state tax returns for Form 1065 (Partnerships) and Form 1120 (C-Corporations), ensuring technical accuracy and compliance
• Review workpapers, tax provisions, K-1s, book-to-tax adjustments, and Schedules M-1/M-2/M-3
• Provide technical guidance to preparers and associates, and give clear review feedback to improve the quality of their work
• Manage engagement timelines, workloads and deliverables, especially through peak filing seasons
• Act as the escalation point for complex tax issues, research queries and client questions
• Work with US counterparts and clients to resolve queries and support planning discussions
• Keep up with changes in US tax law and communicate their impact to the team and clients
• Mentor, train and develop team members; contribute to hiring and performance reviews
• Maintain strong processes for review checklists, documentation and quality control

Preferred candidate profile

• 7+ years of US taxation experience, with significant time in a reviewer capacity
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Forms 1065 and 1120, including partnership taxation (basis, capital accounts, allocations, Section 704(b)/704(c), partner-level reporting) and corporate tax concepts
• Industry experience with clients in Real Estate, Construction or Manufacturing (for example, depreciation and cost segregation, Section 179/bonus, 163(j), completed-contract/percentage-of-completion methods, inventory and Section 263A)
• Proficiency with tax software such as CCH Access, GoSystem, UltraTax or ProSystem fx
• Good working knowledge of US GAAP-to-tax adjustments and multi-state tax compliance
• Strong analytical, research and written communication skills
• Demonstrated team management and client-facing experience
