Job summary

The role will define and execute UPI's innovation, roadmap, leveraging AI, product discovery, ecosystem experimentation, andplatform evolution to address emerging payment needs, enhance user experiences,and enable future-scale growth.

The incumbent will partner with engineering, ecosystemparticipants, business stakeholders, and industry leaders to deliver scalable,intelligent, and future-ready products. Success in this role requires strongproduct leadership, deep technology and platform expertise, AI-first productthinking, ecosystem understanding, execution excellence, platform governance,adoption strategy, and executive stakeholder management.

• Drive the UPI innovation roadmap, defining future capabilities, platformevolution, adoption goals, and success metrics.
• Identifyopportunities across payments, digital commerce, scalability, and emergingtechnologies to shape future-ready solutions.
• Leadecosystem-wide product discovery, AI-enabled innovation, and rapidexperimentation with banks, PSPs, TPAPs, merchants, and fintechs.
• Translateinsights into scalable product requirements, roadmaps, and executionplans.

Platform Strategy & Engineering Partnership

• Define API-first platform strategies focused on scalability, interoperability,extensibility, and seamless ecosystem adoption.
• Partner with engineering teams to deliver high-performing, resilient, and scalableplatform capabilities while improving key metrics such as ASR, latency,and throughput.

Product Governance & Execution

• Establish strong PDLC governance, launch readiness, telemetry, and continuousimprovement frameworks.
• Drive disciplined execution from concept through launch and optimization.

Leadership & Ecosystem Influence

• Represent UPI innovation and AI-led product strategy across executive forums and industry engagements.
• Influence ecosystem direction, mentor product leaders, and foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and product excellence.

Requirements

Required Technical Skills

• Expertise in digital payments, UPI ecosystem, API-first platforms, and interoperability.
• Strong product management, platform strategy, innovation, and ecosystem-led product leadership.
• Understanding of distributed systems, transaction processing, scalability, reliability, and performance engineering.
• Experience with product analytics, experimentation, platform monitoring, and release governance.

AI & Data Capabilities

• Use Generative AI to accelerate product discovery, requirements, specifications, risk analysis, and decision-making.
• Apply AI/ML-driven prioritization using adoption, performance, ecosystem complexity, and business impact.
• Leverage AI-powered operational intelligence for issue detection, trend analysis, and platform performance insights.
• Drive faster innovation through AI-enabled prototyping, experimentation, and validation.

Experience & Leadership

• 15+ years in product management, platform leadership, payments, fintech, or digital ecosystems.
• Proven success leading large-scale platform products, API-driven initiatives, and ecosystem innovation programs.
• Strong expertise in product discovery, roadmap strategy, execution, and stakeholder management.
• Experience in high-scale, mission-critical environments, preferably payments, banking, fintech, or national digital infrastructure.
