Job summary

PaisaSmart in Mumbai is seeking a designer with 1–3 years of experience to shape the look and feel of our mobile app and website. You’ll own visual design, UI/UX and frontend work using Next.js/React, on-site 5 days a week from 10am to 7pm.

You'll build out our design system, craft user flows for first-time investors, and work directly with the founder to ship fast while maintaining quality and clarity. Portfolio required.

Qualifications

What You’ll Own:

• PS Mobile App & Website Design: How PaisaSmart looks and feels. The app, the website, everything a user sees. You set the bar and you hold it.
• PS Website Frontend Development: You design it, then you build it in Next.js/React. No handoff, no spec document, no waiting on someone else to make your design real.
• PS Design System: Ours barely exists. You'll be inventing most of it — components, patterns, and the rules that keep the product coherent as it grows.
• PS App User Experience: Designing for people who have never invested before and are nervous about money. Every screen either builds confidence or costs it. Clarity beats cleverness here, every time.

How We Work:

• Small team, highly collaborative but individual responsibilities. Growth isn’t gated on tenure. If you can do the next job, you get it.
• You work directly with the founder. No layer in between, nobody to hide behind. No office politics, no blame games, direct visibility.
• High responsibility, high level of freedom, minimal guidance. Find a problem, design a solution, fix it. You own your work end to end, including when something goes wrong at 9pm.
• If you’re right you’re right. No hierarchy, no “do it cause the boss said so”. Best argument wins, regardless of who made it.
• Everyone is expected to do 2-3 different tasks. With AI tooling enabling us to learn and do more than ever before come in with one core skillset and learn & apply 1-2 completely new skills with us.

Who It Isn’t For:

Requirements: This is a multi-faceted role, be genuinely strong in at least one of these and show evidence on the others — we'll teach you the rest.

• Strong visual design craft. This is the side we're least able to teach, so it's the side we look at hardest. Bring a portfolio — it's either visible or it isn't.
• Ability to build what you design (even if you use AI to help). Websites shipped to production, not prototypes.
• Real user empathy. You can look at a screen and see it the way a nervous first-time investor sees it, not the way a designer sees it.
• You've owned a product your company shipped to its own users, not a client's project built to someone else's spec.

Compensation:

• Salary is competitive and varies substantially based on the skillset of an individual candidate.
