Job summary

Leading Client seeks an experienced EUTS Ubuntu Administrator to administer, maintain and support Ubuntu OS within a domain. The role involves incident resolution, root cause analysis, change planning, and OS upgrades in a BigFix-enabled environment.

The candidate should have strong Bash scripting, Ubuntu architecture knowledge, and hands-on packaging for Ubuntu 18.04 or higher, with on-call support as needed.

Qualifications

• LPIC-2/3 or equivalent certification is an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of Ubuntu OS architecture is required.
• Expert in Ubuntu 18.04 or higher versions.
• Hands-on in OS customization and packaging for Ubuntu 18.04+.
• Experience with Ubuntu deployment in BigFix management environments.
• Excellent Ubuntu terminal proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain and support Ubuntu OS in a domain environment.
• Resolve major incidents within agreed SLAs and provide escalations handling.
• Perform root cause analysis and prepare RCA reports.
• Prepare implementation, rollback and test plans for changes.
• Install hardware/software, maintain service levels and perform firmware upgrades.
• Monitor performance, implement improvements and oversee deployments.
• Plan and execute OS upgrades while preserving environment integrity.
• Hardening OS parameters per security policies and standards.
• Respond to outages during and after hours as needed (on-call).
• Document, share knowledge and train L1/L2 engineers.
• Coordinate with vendors and service providers to drive improvements.

Contract To Hire(C2H) Role

Shift Timings: 11AM 8PM/ 2PM 11PM

Skillset: Shell & Bash Scripting, Ubuntu OS & Linux app deployment & Packaging

Mandatory Qualifications:

• LPIC-2/3 or equivalent certification will be an added advantage.
• Good understanding of Ubuntu OS architecture is a must.
• Subject Matter Expert(L3) in Ubuntu 18.04 or higher OS versions.
• Experienced in OS customization/application packaging with Ubuntu 18.04 or higher versions.
• Knowledge on Ubuntu OS deployment in a BigFix management environment.
• Expert in Ubuntu OS terminal commands.

EUTS Ubuntu Administrator

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain and support Linux Ubuntu operating system in a domain environment.
• Resolve major incidents and technical escalations within agreed SLAs and quality.
• Problem Management: Perform root cause analysis for problems and major incidents, provide workarounds to ensure business continuity and prepare RCA reports.
• Change Management: Prepare Implementation plan, rollback plan and test plan, risk and impact analysis for critical or complex changes.
• Install hardware and software, maintain appropriate service levels, performance tuning and firmware upgrades across multiple hardware platforms.
• Perform advance tasks such as performance monitoring, provide recommendations for improvement and implement or oversee implementation of the recommendations.
• Perform system software upgrades including planning scheduling, testing, coordination, and maintaining integrity of operating system environment.
• Harden operating system parameters in line with firms Data security policy, standards or best practices.
• Respond to outages both during normal business hours and after-hours on a need basis (on-call support).
• Documentation, knowledge sharing and training of junior members & L1/L2 engineers.
• Coordinating and interfacing with outside vendors, end users, other department team members, and service providers to resolve issues & drive service improvements.

Qualifications

• B.E/B.Tech in IT/Computer Science or equivalent is required with a minimum of 2-5years of relevant experience.
• LPIC-2/3 or equivalent certification will be an added advantage.
• Good understanding of Ubuntu OS architecture is a must.
• Strong documentation skills are required.
• Ability to both, work independently and with a team.
• Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects in parallel.
• Strong collaboration skills to work with multiple team members towards development objectives.
• Demonstrate competencies based upon prior projects, sharing methodology and frameworks used.
• Strong problem-solving skills with limited oversight.

Skills

• Understanding of the workstation imaging process and how it is implemented in domain environments.
• Proficiency in Shell Scripting (Bash, KornShell, etc.).
• Experience with other scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Ruby.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
• Subject Matter Expert(L3) in Ubuntu 18.04 or higher OS versions.
• Experienced in OS customization/application packaging with Ubuntu 18.04 or higher versions.
• Knowledge on Ubuntu OS deployment in a BigFix management environment.
• Expert in Ubuntu OS terminal commands.
• Knowledge of benchmarking standards for Linux OS with expertise in BIS benchmarking for Ubuntu.
• Hands on experience on ticketing tools like ServiceNow is a must.

Basic understanding of below Technologies:

• BigFix management for endpoints & bare metal OS deployments.
• Linux domain architecture.
• DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, LDAP knowledge.
• Security applications for Linux environment.
