  • Provide value-added analytics and strategic input for time-critical initiatives.
  • Follow established procedures while developing subject-matter expertise in ALM processes.

Basic Purpose of Job:The Asset Liability Management (ALM) team within Global Treasury is responsible for optimizing the company’s balance sheet while maximizing net interest revenue (NIR) within our risk appetite and regulatory constraints. Key functions within ALM include balance sheet and NIR forecasting and interest rate risk (IRR) management which are supported by groups focused on data analytics, balance sheet modeling and senior management and Board reporting. ALM is also responsible for coordinating the company’s deposit pricing strategy, return on capital and funds transfer pricing methodologies and balance sheet strategy. ALM works closely with other functions across Global Treasury, Finance, Risk Management and Business Units.Responsibilities & Tasks Include:The Interest Rate Risk team is responsible for:Support new quarterly stress testing initiative and firm-wide scenario executionWork closely with model developers and oversight partners on balance sheet model enhancements and redevelopmentAnalyzing output and ensuring reasonability of resultsEnsuring timely preparation and delivery of ALM reporting including NII and EVE sensitivitiesProviding value added analytics is a fundamental expectation of the role as is ability to provide strategic input into time critical initiativesGeneral:Following procedures and maintaining existing processes, but also thinking critically about forecast and IRR topics to build subject matter expertiseProviding analytical support to drive key balance sheet initiativesReporting and analyzing actual balance sheet, NII and IRR trends to support month-end and quarter-end processesResponding in a timely and accurate manner to ad-hoc requestsWorking with other team members across ALM, Treasury, and Finance to ensure timely, accurate reporting for routine committee presentationsLearn new concepts and become a subject matter expert on various balance sheet and ALM processesApply knowledge/skills handling complex problems and/or coordinating work which may extend beyond own area of expertise; share expertise with colleagues and other departmentsJob Requirements:Education and Experience:Minimum of postgraduate degree, preferably in Finance or related field,MBA preferred3-5 Years of experience in banking,financial services.Treasury ALM related experience preferredSkills/ Knowledge:Quantitative Risk Management (QRM) software experience requiredStrong background in data management, programming/SQL background a plusStrong quantitative aptitude/skills and experience modeling complex financial conceptsDetail oriented and effective written and verbal communication skillsExperience using software applications to define and solve complex business problemsKnowledge of financial marketsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentAbility to communicate complex concepts to broad audiencesAbility to multi-task, manage priorities, work independently while maintaining attention to detail and meet deadlines in a demanding and deadline-oriented environmentMust possess strong communication skills with ability to participate in conference calls and contribute to presentation of financial results to financial and non-financial audiences at various levels of senioritySolid business knowledge as it relates to the financial services industryFinancial product and institution knowledgeSelf-motivated, self-assured, and self-managedResults oriented ownership mindsetAbout State StreetAcross the globe, institutional investors rely on us to help them manage risk, respond to challenges, and drive performance and profitability.
