Job summary

Burns & McDonnell India is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer to join our Water Global practice in Mumbai. You will design electrical systems for water and wastewater facilities, focusing on MV/LV distribution, and support project execution under senior engineers.

The role requires a BE/BTech in Electrical from a recognized institute, with 2027 batch graduates preferred, strong English communication, and internship exposure in substation design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institute.
• 60% marks or equivalent in qualifying exam.
• Passing out as part of the 2027 batch.
• Proficient in English.
• Prior internship at substation design preferred.
• MS Office and AutoCAD proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for water and wastewater facilities, including medium voltage and low voltage power distribution.
• Prepare transformer, emergency generator, UPS, battery, cable, and lighting design calculations.
• Perform electrical power system studies with load flow, short circuit, motor starting, relay coordination, and arc flash using ETAP.
• Prepare layouts for substation equipment, power & cable tray, lighting, grounding, and duct bank.
• Prepare cable schedules and panel boards, specifications, datasheets, and vendor submittal reviews.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices for project execution.
• Support use of ETAP, Revit, and AutoCAD; attend regular client meetings.

• You'll be joining the ranks of our Water (WTR) Global practice, which provides engineering and design round-the-clock support to our US offices since 2020.
• You’ll report to department manager, and you will be working on exciting projects related to electrical engineering and design for water and wastewater treatment facilities for industrial and municipal plants.
• And these projects aren't limited to a local scale; they are positioned globally, reflecting our worldwide impact.
• You’ll be a part of our vibrant WTR Global Practice and work to build technical competence while supporting project execution under the guidance of senior engineers and designers.
• Designing electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities, including medium voltage and low voltage power distribution.
• Design calculation of transformer, emergency generator, UPS, battery system, cable, and lighting system.
• Performing electrical power system studies with load flow, short circuit, motor starting, relay coordination, and arc flash using ETAP.
• Preparing layouts like substation equipment, power & cable tray, lighting, grounding, and duct bank.
• Preparation of cable schedule and panel board schedule.
• Preparation of specification, datasheet, technical bid evaluation, and vendor drawing submittal review.
• Good communication skills (verbal & written) and regular meeting with Clients.
• Learn and support use of tools like ETAP, Revit, and AutoCAD.
• Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across multiple BMcD offices for project execution.
• Open to occasional extended working hours based on project needs

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (B.E / B. Tech) from an accredited institute
• Candidates must have secured a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent grade in the qualifying examination from a reputed university/institute in India
• Candidate should be passing out as part of the 2027 batch only
• Proficient in the English language.
• Prior internship at substation design is preferred.
• Computer software knowledge in MS-office, Auto-Cad and other tools.
